Now how sure are you that PI won't engage in illegal dumping? We can't even manage our landfills and segregate our waste properly. I'm all for nuclear energy, but only until such a time when we're actually ready for it.

Kung wa ka salig sa pinoy, Foreign companies lang ang mo-operate ani, maintain ug dispose of waste. hopefully that will give you a peace of mind.

Interestingly enough, here's a clarification on the last part of the article.

As a general clarification, ounce for ounce, coal ash released from a power plant delivers more radiation than nuclear waste shielded via water or dry cask storage.

This brings me back to my earlier point. What happens when the waste isn't disposed properly?

seriously i find it really stupid comparing it gram for gram, how can we exactly measure the amount of radiation from coal plants when it spew millions of tons in the air and produced 130 millions tons of solid waste (in US alone) compare that to several tons of nuclear waste worldwide.

Nuclear waste can be recycle i believe Japan are doing this. Some of Japan's spent nuclear fuel rods are just left at the pool for years before shipping them out. technically we can just put this spent rods in pool as long as it takes maybe we should build a bigger pool so people wont be panicky about disposing it
