    @JunaxM

    @ to all:
Unsa kaha ang cause ani noh? is it due to poor circuit design sa board or within the working environment na xa?

in a forum people like to contribute ideas. maybe it doesn't necessarily apply to you right away but if it can help other people (and the main tech) then suggestions are welcomed.
this is the line --------- cross it. i dare you

capacitor = are devices that stores electrical charges and is used to maintain voltage levels in power lines to improve electrical power efficiency.

if gaburot imo capacitor it means dying na sya and needs to be replaced.

sometimes even if ga burot na imo capacitor some parts of the motherboard still works or some hardware attached to it since daghan man capacitor ang board unya they have different parts to manage. like if dat capacitor is in charge sa power sa video then for sure dili gyud mo display imo video but ur cpu still works.

i have encountered dat problem lots of times and i just replaced the capacitor na ga burot then it works again

@ junaxM - i think ang imong gipasabot kai :

"mo andar/gana pa ba ang cpu nga gikan sa mobo nga guba na kai niburot ang capacitor?"

sakto ba ko? the answer is yes, you even tested it yourself with another working mobo.

    "niburot ang capacitor"

ang sugod ana kay mobugdo lang gamay ang ibabaw sa capacitor then taud taud moburot, unya mo leak na jud inig kadugay. magamit pa man nimo ang computer pero dili na magdugay. mga 6 months to 1 year then magsugod na ang symptoms niya: "mo hang", mo restart, mo blue screen. ambot lang kaha ug kanus a kutob mga 1 or 2 years since imong na obserbahan "niburot" nga dili na jud nimo magamit ang computer. daghan kaayo mig giilisan nga motherboard sa mga IBM nga desktops (8303-SB3, 8189-D8U, 8319-51U, 8305-42U, 6792-MFU) ug ubang Dell desktops (Optiplex GX260, SX260, GX270, SX270, SX280 and some GX280). walay problema diri kay deritso ra man ug ilis sa motherboard sa ingon ani nga problema. ambot kaha ug unsay paagi ani diha sa ato-a.

here's how this problem came to be:

The story behind this has all the makings of a conspiracy theory Hollywood movie. As reported in IEEE Spectrum Online, apparently a scientist stole an electrolyte formula from his employer in Japan and left the company. Shortly afterwards, this scientist took up with a Taiwanese electronics manufacturer and used the formula there, then went on to sell the formula to other firms. The problem was, the formula was wrong.

Missing were a few crucial elements in the chemical concoction that made up the electrolyte inside the capacitor. Without these additives, according to Dennis Zogbi of Passive Component Industry magazine, the capacitor will emit hydrogen gas and burst after a short operational lifetime. Burst capacitors will leak electrolyte onto the motherboard, creating all sorts of electrical and chemical havoc.

Thus far, only Abit has come forward and stated that its capacitors have been faulty, although it is widely believed that many other motherboard manufacturers have purchased capacitors from the same component manufacturers as Abit. IBM admitted to using some of the Abit motherboards in its PCs.

    Capacitor failures plague motherboard vendors

there's actually a forum made just for this issue of "bad capacitors" on motherboards.

    Bad Caps.net Forum

Hope this would help future visitors of this thread by looking for their respective motherboard vendors if they have "bad capacitor" issues

actually for me, based on experience. muburot ang capacitor if you exceed the working voltage printed on the capacitor. Lets say 1000uF/25V if you exceed 25V then your capacitor starts expanding. but if the device still works the capacitance is still ok but eventually as time passes by the capacitor will eventually leak. beter change the capacitor.

    fyi,

mga bossing ge design jud na motherboard manufacturer na moborot na capacitor sa motherboard coz they have a agenda on that so that the user buy a new mobo para mahalin ila baligya korek .. that is there business tactics
