Default Re: winamp stutters when i open a program or CPU load increases...

the older version sof winamp use about 2~8% of my processor, the new ones dont go over 2%
thats in my case, maybe its a difference of soundcard drivers also.

ur pc is suffering low of memory resources. labi na mag-multi task ka.
r u in heavy graphics? or video editing?

these apps use huge amount of cpu and ram resources.

solution is to add more ram.

if with cd transfers. signal and data cross talk.

unsa imo slave hdd? 5400rpm? unsa imo cable? ata33? 66/100?

    coz it matters.

    imo master 7200 rpm?

i had experience with stutter sound playing mp3 with my winamp when i am playing from dvd drive while making some photo editing especially when i open lots of it. i found out that my transfer mode is PIO, but when i change my transfer mode to UDMA the problem fixed. I can now watch DVD movie, while playing music with my winamp and while doing some applications.

In your case this is different, it is possible that you lack the resources like ram.
I have read some issues on earlier version that has bug which consumes almost 100% of cpu resources but it was fixed by newer version. Maybe this will be fixed if you use newer version, i will recommend at least version 5.0  coz i don't think integraded audio has the problem coz mine is integrated (8 channel realtek audio) as well. My Altec ATP3 rocks actually, sounds so cool.
