Why are suicide victims not accorded proper burial ceremony by the Catholic Church?

In the sixth century, suicide became a religious sin and secular crime. In 1533, those who committed suicide while accused of a crime were denied a Christian Burial. In 1562, all suicides were punished in this way. In 1693, even the attempt of suicide became an ecclesiastical crime, which could be punished by excommunication, with civil consequences following. In the 13th century Thomas Aquinas vilified suicide as an act against God and as a sin for which one could not repent. Civil and criminal laws were enacted to discourage suicide, and as well as denying a proper burial and degrading the body. Property and possessions of the deceased and their family were confiscated.

The point is , wether suicide or not , its not ESTABLISHED na SUICIDE siya because there was no note saying na ga SUICIDE siya .

So for the benefit of the doubt , I guess that was the very reason why such rite was rendered .

It is denied of the rites because SUICIDE is the only kind of SIN na dili jud ka mapangayo ug pasaylo .

Now regarding sa ubang pari na mo hatag ug rites , it could be due to favors , money or unsa pa but it doesnt mean that the whole CHURCH is condoning it .

Karaan na man ni nga "rule" sa church .. nga ang mga suicide victims dili misahan kay dakong sala. One thing, in order for sin to be sin, there should be a willful and voluntary decision and acting it out, I guess (forgive my elementary knowledge on this). Ang usa ka magpakamatay wala sa normal state of mind .. mao nga ang iyang decision Flawed ... kay nobody in his right mind will kill himself or herself. So the benefit of the doubt is there ... maayo gani kay dunay mga pari nga mo misa sa nag suicide .. not only for the good of the soul but also for the family left behind... to lighten the burden, spiritual or emotional, they are experiencing. why condemn the family for an act of one of their members.... so, dili siguro monetary ang reason sa mga pari nga momisa sa suicide victim .. kun dili usa ka kristohanong attitude ngadto sa mga kapamilya. The Gospels have so much similar examples of that Christlike attitude.

correct me if i'm wrong, so far ang church murag nay new ruling ani sa mga mag suicide... they will be given a mass but not like before nga di jud nila misahan nor blessingan ang dead...


i think mao na ila ni gibuhat kay for them (olden times) taking ones life is a major sin, so mao nang di nila hatagan ug proper burial ceremony...
