it's discrimination, not descrimination. there's no such word as discriminations. discrimination is a noun so it has neither singular nor plural form.
anyway, i have always had this impression that some people from luzon (not only from manila) discriminate people who are from the visayas or mindanao, especially those who are cebuano-speaking. probably because the media before had this poor and demeaning portrayal of us. did you remember manilyn reynes' role in that stupid sitcom (i forgot the title). i hated it. i hated the way she spoke in it. it was so exaggerated and it never sounded funny or laughable to me. it was insulting. native cebuano speakers may have a thick accent when it comes to speaking tagalog but definitely it never sounded like that. it's either i have a bad sense of humor or it just wasn't a good thing for a cebuana like manilyn to do. it was a cultural blasphemy for me. but it's not only the "provincial people" who get discriminated. i have heard of provincial peeps who discriminate on people from manila.
i don't like that negative connotation that some people have about the "probinsiya" or the "probinsiyano." i don't think there's anything wrong with it but some people get offended by the idea or the concept. true, some people from the province may not be sophisticated like the people in manila but it is also true that some people in the province are more sophisticated and well-rounded than the people in manila. we have glamorous people from the major cities in the country outside manila, that's a fact.
so patas lang ang show!![]()
