i would not agree with you..kailangan jud sa cebu ang lrt or mrt kay the fact sa south palang daan..anha dapit sa tabunok bulacao, traffic na kaayo...taga talisay ko so na experience naku na...ang taga far north pod og far south kay kailangan pod na nila kay para dili kapoy ang byahe....so if taga carcar ka, di na ka kelangan mag board kung sa city ka nag study or nag work...daghan man ang purpose if naay LRT or MRT not only for convenience but mas maka save pa ka...

sa SRP ra puede nato butangan para at least ang maa jeep sa carcar or any other places maka byahe gihapon and eventually less traffic..[/QUOTE]

thats y ni suggest ko nga sa srp...lahi man ang road para sa mga PUJ and MRT coz the latter kay mag build man jud ug structure.it means lahi ang route sa MRT....at least bisan mas taas pa siya ug pasahe kesa PUJ ok ra gihapon kay mas comfortable man and less prone to accident...in the long run if magsaleg ra ta sa PUJ..mas daghan ang traffic, accident sa dalan, pollution...

hahaha.. katawa sad ko nimo bai..
it's called master planning.. every highly urbanized city in the world has it..
roads would eventually be widened, mass transport system will either be elevated or subterranean.. drainage system will be evaluated and upgraded.. Cebu will inevitably have to do it otherwise, its growth would be hampered..

actually bai, pre-war patong train sa sugbo.. it wasn't gi-wagtang due to gamay ang sugbo but because the cost of rehabilitating it (it was damaged during the war) after the war was so huge.. it was more economical to convert the US military jeeps into jitneys which eventually evolved to our present jeepneys..

anyway, let me tell you how "small" or big cebu is in terms of LRT needs...
let's use manila LRT for leverage...

    Manila LRT:
    Year: 1980
NCR Population served by LRT circa 1980: 5,924,884 source: wikipedia
Manila (alone) Population served by LRT circa 1980: 1,630,485 source: wikipedia

    Proposed Cebu LRT:
    Year: 2011
Population: 3.85M (<-The figure makes Cebu the largest province in terms of population. If excluding the cities, Cebu is 5th largest province. Source: NSO 2007 with Pop. Growth Rate: 2.16% annually)
Cebu City (alone) Population: 798,809 source: wikipedia

so gamay gihapon kaayo ang number of Cebu commutters... =)

let me cite one more example but this time from outside the Phils.:

    San Francisco, California:
    Population: 815,358 only
    Mass Transportation System:

Public transit solely within the city of San Francisco is provided predominantly by the San Francisco Municipal Railway (Muni). The city-owned system operates both a combined light rail and subway system (the Muni Metro) and a bus network that includes trolleybuses, standard diesel motorcoaches and diesel hybrid buses. The Metro streetcars run on surface streets in outlying neighborhoods but underground in the downtown area.[170] Additionally, Muni runs the highly visible F Market historic streetcar line, which runs on surface streets from Castro Street to Fisherman's Wharf (through Market Street),[170] and the iconic San Francisco cable car system,[170] which has been designated as a National Historic Landmark.[171]

Commuter rail is provided by two complementary agencies. Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) is a regional rapid transit system that connects the San Francisco peninsula with the East Bay through the Transbay Tube. The line runs under Market Street to Civic Center where it turns south to the Mission District, the southern part of the city, and through northern San Mateo County, to the San Francisco International Airport, and Millbrae.[170] The Caltrain rail system runs from San Francisco along the Peninsula down to San Jose.[170] The line dates from 1863, and for many years was operated by Southern Pacific.

The Transbay Terminal serves as the terminus for long-range bus service (such as Greyhound) and as a hub for regional bus systems AC Transit (Alameda & Contra Costa counties), SamTrans (San Mateo County), and Golden Gate Transit (Marin and Sonoma Counties).[172] Amtrak also runs a shuttle bus from San Francisco to its rail station in Emeryville

-> both LRT and BRT is being implemented despite the "gamay" population..

The government should not only focus on the Capital City of the Philippines
which is Manila but of course do projects on other Cities and other Region
here in the Philippines because Manila isn't just the country itself.
They should impose projects in Cebu also knowing that second to Manila,
    Cebu's a very fast-growing city.

@Banshee, Cebu already tried being the PH's Capital but it ended up switching to
Manila because of the mountainous area we have.

ang gamay og dalan bai ang sulbad ana kay paliton sa gobyerno ang private lots nga maigo... it is the consitutional right of the state called "eminent domain" wherein they can forcefully take back any property with just compensation to the owner regardless of whatever structure is already in place in that property.. example, according to the Master Plan, maigo ang Club Ultima, then they would have to tear down said building after lot payment was made.. ang problem lang ani kay ang mga LGU nga wala'y political will and hadlokan mapilde sa next election and also, kulang sa kickback during lot purchase(?) =)...
