I would gladly support better working conditions for workers (e.g. chairs for cashiers and baggers, a mandatory 1-hour break and benefits) but I'm not too keen with another increase to the minimum wage. This would kill SMEs already trying to make ends meet.

Akoa ra ning opinion ha.. pero sa akong pagtan-aw, ang minimum wage issue wurag red herring ra ni nga issue. kahibalo man ko nga mahalon na jud ang basics (food, shelter, etc) pero ang pag-pataas sa minimum wage sayop jud nga pamaagi kai dili ni maka solbar sa problema.

The government should tackle to root causes of rising prices, rather than artificially raising the minimum wage. They already know what they need to do, but they have no will to do it, or are too corrupt. Farm to market roads and support for loans and equipment to our farmers as well as fair application of CARP have been asked for by our farmers for a long time but no government of ours has ever had the will to implement these. It's easier to raise the minimum wage but it's just a band-aid solution that will make the disease of inflation much worse. The harder job of managing our resources and agricultural sector is neglected and these sectors are just left to rot, making life hard for all of us.

China has a much lower minimum wage, which they hardly change, but they now have average wages higher than ours and rising by 8-10% annually. We are losing all our industries to China. We should be thankful the average Chinese can't speak English very well, otherwise those BPO jobs will be going there as well. (I'm speaking for someone who works in the furniture industry, which is dying because of high wages and competition from China).

some businesses are actually employing way below the current minimum wage.... do you believe 80/day? in the city? and yet the owners of the business is rich... even if this gets approve, only few businesses can comply... its really illogical to ask for an increase of minimum wage when there is too much unemployed people... kahinumdum ku gi ingnan sa akong mom among usa ka supplier " nilikoy imung mga trabahante kay gamay kag sweldo... increasi kaha na ninyu para mutarong ug trabaho inyung tao..." the supplier responded" dah, pasagdan ra na namu mag welga2x, total daghan mag linya para mutrabaho sa amu..." and truth be told, half of their employess were replaced with new ones... that is the likely scenario for the new wage increase.... many businesses cannot survive with that level of salary....
