TS, if you're planning to buy one... I'd advise you not to. Save a bit more cash and get a low-end setup (has a year warranty and faster definitely)...you can probably get a low-end setup around ~7k-8k (CPU only).

But if you have an existing P4 right now...and you're using it for basic programs, then use it by all means... my dad even uses his old P4 for 2D CAD drawings (it's a bit slow but it does what it's meant for).
