Resignation is always an option for most people. But for some people it's not. If you're a single dad and feeding 3 mouths, resignation is not an immediate answer. So that's why I'm asking what could be done about these kind of bosses? If he's just someone who manages the company, then it's easy to complain to owners right...
What I'm asking here, is there any Law to protect the rights of the employees in that sort of case? wherein the employers are unfair and abusive...
I think there should be a system or organization that does random checking companies every now and then... random checking to be exact...
Labor codes and conducts here in the Philippines are not that keen in the details at all, most if not are just promulgations of a general law without even tackling the sublaws or by laws that it has been constituted on it, in the first place..

what i am telling is that, here in our country.. the masa or ordinary working person is not that all protected by our labor practices as these laws are first of all enacted for the benefit of the company then the individual itself..

In any labor practices, it is the company who holds the rights and policies/rules to it's employees... So if the boss of the company says so.. as long as it is for the benefit of the greater whole.. then his mandate is obeyed at all cost and across the people concern (for all who is working on his company)

You can complain to DOLE if you think your boss is soliciting illegal sexual or morally abusing an employee... you for example.. but you have to bear in mind, court hearings here.. usually takes ages and years of years of pain and sacrifices.. even if DOLE hears your moans and complaints... it would fall in deaf ears eventually...

the likely case of just filing a resignation is a better excuse not to deal on all these hassles...

You can go on a WELGA if you have a UNION on your company.. but usually UNIONS are look down by LABOR especially DOLE as these are just instigating and creating more problems not just to the company but to the general public as well...

Just reminding everyone that I am not complaining about my boss now. He's the greatest. Talking about past bosses and managers who get abusive, etc.

@bowee - that sucks. i pity the employees who work for those kinda people. no wonder some companies get away with that kinda crap. tsk tsk.

    i agree..

you can go to DOLE and complain for the f#* boss you had .. but always bear in mind... sometimes the more you berate and complain to others for you boss misdeeds.. it would always reflect also on what kind of employee you had been (when your with that company)

it's a double edge sword.. people might think that your a no good employee if si.raan nimo imong boss .. bsag sakto paka.. people would always or sometimes think your actually the problem and not your boss.....

    Hi fellow only,

This reminds me of my 1st boss. And, it also links to my thread:
How to Deal with Managers who are Mean? or should I say, bosses who are mean.

One thing I've observed from these types of people are:
    1. they are born spoiled.
    2. there are people at their backs who pressure them day by day
    3. they have dues (it could be financially)
    4. they look too high about themselves / they look low of other people
    5. I smell cheapskate. (thus you notice multitasking methods)
    6. they are just pure AH.

It's a very good decision that you resigned from that company because they don't deserve your blood and sweat. People like those just don't know how to appreciate what they have, and so they ask for more, more and more. Although they already have much.

They could be wealthy financially, but they are poor in terms of values and etiquette. The method of insulting employees doesn't work on earning respect. Remember, "Respect is to be earned, not imposed"... How could people respect someone who doesn't even respect themselves? And how could someone be a leader when they don't even know how to serve?

Well... some things are just ironic. You are the boss, employees must abide by your rules no matter what. But it's not at all wrong, to take a stand from people like these. You did the best decision TS. ^_^

    Whew, fellow only Kagami-chan!

I totally agree with your observations. Especially about the cheapskate part. Hahaha! Seriously, in my past job I did heavy multitasking! My bf kept on saying, "what the hell?! those people are slave drivers, you should just quit." and i didn't want to quit because I wanted to prove something. I don't give up easily. hehehe. but in the end I couldnt take it anymore especially since they mess around with my salary! arrrghh! i was like "fine, i can take multitasking but puleezzz don't mess with my salary!"... Things like asking for compensation for my overtime fell on deaf ears. I was in the office for 12-14 hours! and i don't get paid for my overtime. A$$!
So yeah, i made a super good decision to quit!
