try this: (3x^2+9x+6)/3=(x^2+3x+2)=(x+1)(x+2)
x= -1, -2

@darkazra: leira is correct. The word components is used by some books to mean factors. So basically, "components of 3x^2+9x+6" simply means "factors of 3x^2+9x+6".

3x^2+9x+6 = (3x+3)(x+2)
Or if you really want the factors to be in simplest form:
3x^2+9x+6 = 3(x+1)(x+2)

This is where you went wrong - You assumed that you were solving for x in the equation 3x^2+9x+6 = 0. (Answer would be -1 and -2, in this case.) But what was asked was to find the components/factors of the quadratic expression.
