    Yeah...this is so true even with proper voltage protection.

    I'd recommend you get a basic true-rated PSU for that one (FSP Supersonic 400watts, TT Litepower 430watts, Antec VP450, etc.). They cost less than 2k....around ~1.5k. It should provide you with better and reliable power.

    You can check PCExpress prices for that one. It's not too heavy on the pocket and they're all reliable. Don't go generic, it's a waste of money.

    generic PSU is fine (500 watts) but branded PSU is highly recommended like Silverstone PSU
