That is true. Crime is in EVERY city. But you gotta admit, Cebu is FAR from being considered safe. I'm not saying Cebu's the MOST dangerous city in the world but it's definitely not the safest.

IMO the local govt should improve the security to attract tourists.

i been to Malaysia many times.... grabe daghan jud kaau ug tourist didto especially mga puti mag lakaw lakaw ra sa dalan.. its because the security is better compare sa ato.

In terms of attraction wala ta nag kulang.. sa security ra mao discouraged mga tourists mo anha sa ato.

How can a place be a top tourist destination when stepping outside of a secure resort is in itself a risky proposition? Cebu "could" one day become a top tourist destination, but the public sector has much to do before that possibility can be entertained. Private corporations can only do so much and a few fancy hotels isn't reason enough to put a destination on a vacation shortlist.

Bias? I didn't see any "BIASED" facts. It's reality. If you can't face reality, then go crawl back under your rock. The point of this thread is not about if we get foreigners or not(because we DO have foreigners), it's about Cebu as the "TOP" tourist destination which is... bullcrap. Just because we have nice diving spots and great beaches doesn't mean we're at the top. There are A LOT to consider before coming out as "TOP". "Ayaw elook ang cebu as a particular, elook as a WHOLE!"

And it's not "marketing strategy". It's false advertisement. And before you go and call the TS and some of us "BO*O", learn to read and comprehend first.

Cebu's tourist promo seems to have deceived a lot of foreigners. In fact I have one disappointed foreigner friend. Most of the foreigners I meet outside the Phils - Japanese, Americans, Indians, Indonesian even Sri Lankan have heard nice things about Cebu. And when I am asked of what's nice in Cebu, I am always at a lose of words for I feel they have wrong expectations of what Cebu is. I want to be proud for Cebu but is there any other Cebu destinations/attractions to be proud of? Well, there are nice beaches in Cebu but one has to take a long drive to reach them. Such beaches are even common to many islands in the Phils, even nicer like the beaches in Boracay, Panglao, Palawan etc.

You may push for Plantation Bay, Imperial Palace, Shangri-la... come on, those are not Cebu! They are beautified parts of Cebu by private entities that are yearning for income! I dont think they are truly Cebu. Unlike other places as Japan for example where you'll experience breathtaking panoramas, well kept public parks, gardens and temples, and bustling business centers that are truly a wonder to behold.

Please share your thoughts on how to improve Cebu and make it truly a tourist haven. Let's hope that this forum can reach our honorable government officials and may this provide them inputs on what and how to improve Cebu.

Cebu is good enough for me.
