I think the government take the necessary actions so that oil spils will not reach in cebu... especially in batayan islands were lots of nice beaches wil be affected... :mrgreen:

yup, sayang lang atong mga gipanghambog nga mga beaches diri cebu kung maaffected sa oil spill.

kinahanglan jud paspasan ga goberno ilang lihok. unsaon nalang, kani raba atong mga white sand ug unexploited beaches ang ganahan anhion sa mga foreigners.. kung maapektaran ni sa oilspill, bagsak pud ang tourism.

Sunken tanker continues to leak oil

(UPDATE) BUNKER fuel continues to leak from two tanks of the sunken M/T Solar 1, but only in "very small" quantities, a Coast Guard official said.

The leaks on the tanks, each with a capacity of 200,000 liters, were discovered by the remote-operated submersible from the Japanese salvage ship Shin Sei Maru, which took video footage of the tanker's wreckage for the second day on Friday, said Captain Luis Tuason, Cost Guard Western Visayas chief.

Captain Luis Tuason Jr., Coast Guard commander in Western Visayas, said the leak is significantly much slower than in the days immediately following the sinking of Solar-1 last August 11.

"There is still a very weak and slow leaking probably at five liters per hour," Tuason told the Inquirer.

“There was this tank number 2 where they observed some oil coming out but in very small quantity. And there was also some oil coming out from the middle part of the other tank but also in smaller quantity,” he said in a television interview.

Officials estimate that 1.3 million of the two million liters of bunker fuel that the M/T Solar 1 was carrying have leaked out since it sank off Guimaras Island, triggering the worst oil spill in the country's history.
Tuason said the video taken by the submersible showed a crack on the right side near the ship’s midsection and a hole on the left side near the bow.

just heard the news this morning. there are 3 typhoons coming to visayas daw and cebu seas are in danger causing the oil nga ma spread coz of strong winds. let's hope and pray this won't happen.

.. i viewed CNN's satellite view of asia, thankfully there aint no typhoon building up. The cleaning up is so damn slow.

The first thing that they should do is create a blockage to keep the oil spill from spreading, no matter how much they clean those areas where the oil tanker sank if they didn't create a contengincy plan to contain those oils it won't matter because gus of winds and the sea is unpredictable. Their effort of keeping the oils from spreading is not enough, they say that our government did not release an immediate fund for the clean up, well what else is new.

.. they're blaming the government now?? pointing fingers again. hahayz. here we go again, BLAMING-GALORE. They should look for a faster resolve to this problem. Petron and the government should be hand in hand in the efforts.
