Business permit renewal‘done’ in 30 mins.

WHAT took 15 days to a month to renew business permits will now take only 30 minutes in Mandaue City.

“This is one way of thanking the businessmen for their confidence in the present administration,” Mayor Jonas Cortes said during yesterday’s launching of new procedures to streamline processing of permits.

The mayor also promised that within the first quarter, once all systems are installed, payment of real property taxes can be done in any of the 27 barangay halls.

“From 17 steps, we have reduced it to four steps… and (we) shall target serving you within 30 minutes, compared to previous years where you take days or even weeks before you get your permits,” the mayor said in his letter to taxpayers explaining the new procedure.

City public information offcer Roger Paller said the four steps are the submission of requirements, assessment, payment, and release of business permit.

Also, Paller said there will only be two requirements: barangay clearance and real property tax clearance.

“Efficient and graft-free government” is the project’s aim, the mayor said.

To get closer to taxpayers and decongest transaction at City Hall, the city opened up two additional “Business one-stop shop” (Boss) centers where one can renew their permits outside City Hall: in Parkmall at the North Reclamation Area and in Bridges Town Square on Plaridel St.

Barangays Banilad to Tipolo will be entertained in Parkmall while barangays in the north, from Basak to Umapad, will be processed in Bridges Town Square.

From Barangays Alang Alang to Subangdaku, business permit renewal will be entertained in City hall.

The mayor said this is part of the City’s full automation project, covering not only business permits but real property tax as well. The project is expected to be fully operational in March this year.

Many business establishments and malls opened last year and will open this year.

J Mall Complex will open in the middle of this year in Barangay Bakilid, while a new branch of the Colonnade chain of stores is expected anytime this year near the existing public market. Robinsons already acquired property near Cortes General Hospital and may soon put up business there.

Business permit renewal in the city is scheduled from Jan. 1 to 21. New business permit application will start on Jan. 31 onward.

nice job for the mayor, i just heard this over the radio. They are also planning to do applications online. If this pushes through then Mandaue will even be ahead of Cebu City.

I wonder what were those 13 other steps that the previous administration required for the permits. If they lowered it to 4, that means majority of the said process was useless!!! hehehehehe...

Good thing they did that and saved Mandauehanons time and effort.

not totally useless that was part of the bureaucratic process which all government offices go through ... but could also be a cause for graft and reduced tax collection ...

now they have removed many people out of the loop ... so HOPEfully and potentially ... reducing red tape and corruption ... at the same time increasing my Mandaue's revenue ...

from what i'm hearing ... Cebu City will not be able to catch up with Mandaue's computerization efforts ... because they have too many regular employees even in their IT department ... ... compared to Mandaue's lean and mean machine ...

i believe Cebu City has also contracted Mandaue's IT consultant to help look into their IT problems ... it's like my Mandaue being big brother to Cebu City ... in so far as high tech is concerned ...

Pero daghan gihapon pot-holes ang dalan, ang p. remedios putol-putol ang concreting inya wurag giundang na. Ang AS fortuna ga baha gihapon dapit Rolling Hills kung kusug ulan. Unahon unta ni niyag solbar before mangimbitar siya og investors arun sulit ang mapakita sa ilaha... karon dili pa ko ka envision nga mahimong makati ang mandaue.

As for A S Fortuna na magbaha tungod man na sa rolling hills ila man gibuild on top of a river. Only way to solve this is to DESTROY rolling hills and the the other establishments that covered the river.
