Default nikon d40/d60/d3000 battery grip problems

    good day!

I think common ang battery drain problem sa generic or china made battery grips for nikon d40/d40xd60/d3000. Ang akoa kay para sa ako d40, over night lang nga walay gamit ma drain jud ang he battery... I met someone who figured out the problem and took the risk nga ipa mod sa iya. Karon ok na kaayo ang grip, dili na mu drain! Good thing is minimal kaayo iya charge! Paid only P250 for the mod! And I would recommend the guy.

If nahan mu ma check or ma mod inyo grip, puede ra ninyo contact ang guy directy.

Your grip doesnt have a problem, I think ang body mismo doesnt support functions for a vertical shutter. Mao nga these third party manufacturers made the idea of putting a vertical shutter using IR. The vertical shutter button is a single action trigger and can not be pushed lhalfway down to focus. The vertical shutter button works like a wireless remote for the camera ,slide the lock that allows a spring loaded sensor (IR) to pop up on the horizontal grip part. Switch the camera to the remote mode by using either the menu or Fn button on the side. Make sure to set it to instant rather than a 2 or 10 second delay. I don't use the vertical shutter button bec of the time delay...

I don't usually worry about draining the battery in the grip. I usually take out the battery when I store the camera. Also, if you will notice, there is an ON/OFF switch on the grip. I have read somewhere (POTN, I think), that setting it to OFF solves the battery drain problem. Check daw grip ninyo sa D40, etc.

the on/off switch is for the IR... after the mod, the switch now becomes the power button of the grip. Disabled na ang vertical shutter function using the IR. Which para nako ok ra, what is impt for me is the improved handling of the dslr with the grip.

I actually have two battery grips of different brands, the other grip doesnt have this problem at all, it works perfectly fine, no glitches whatsover. I guess depende ra siguro sa brand or maker sa kani nga grip...
