sad to say bro, mao na style sa sigma. wala koy ma recommend sa tamron in that mm category. get the nikkor instead, hehehe =) or just don't mind much about its body build, im sure youll enjoy more using it than worrying much about. madaut man gyud tanan from wear and tear, give more emphasis on the performance & output.
BroChip, dili abtan ug 1 year ma-pakpak na dayon? Plano man sad gud unta ko aning Sigmaha ni ... hehe... Laina na raba tan-awon kung mapakpak na.

Not exactly the same focal length, but you might want to read about this lens Tamron AF 28-75mm f/2.8 XR Di LD Lens Review It's sharper than sigma and about as sharp as the Canon EF 24-70 f/2.8 L in some focal lengths. bigmakoy, BeoR's partner in MuG shots is a user of this lens. Most of his shots in Food photography thread were taken using this lens. I had a quick try with this lens during our last photo trip with bigmak & beor and ok ra gyud siya. Paspas sia mo focus, love the colors and sharp siya and most important is that affordable ra siya Pero you might not like the focall length, specially if dili full frame nga camera.

You might also want to look into the tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 If you want a wider focal length.

@wooden_heart: agree ko ni chipmunk ani bro. ambot lang kung unsa na ilang klase sa coating nga di man mag dugay, ma pakpak ra daun. pero if dili ka that conscious sa "panlabas na anyo" sa lens then this lens is worth investing jud.

try to consider these lenses nga ka atbang sa sigma 24-70:

tamron 28-75 f2.8 (no question sa IQ. sharp jud ang tamron. )
tokina 28-80 f2.8 (built like a tank jud. fast and sharp)
    nikon 28-70 f2.8 (the best alternative sa 24-70 N )

    or

NIKON 24-70 f2.8 N (the best among the rest)

sigma ha a "felt paper" like outside coating.. dali rjud tinuon mapakpak.

depende sa pag gamit bro. kung sge lang ug katug ang lens sa drybox aw for sure di jud na ma pakpak bsan ug 1 year above pa. hehehe.. btaw, lahi rajud ug coating ang sigma. pero like what ive said, kung dili lang conscious ang mu gamit sa "panlabas na anyo" sa lens, aw that wont be a problem. hehe.. xD

i was almost decided naman unta oi pero nag duha2x asad noon ko...

@vanix - dili man noon ko after sa looks lang, mas nice jud i-consider first ang performance. but considering the price of this lens, hehehe murag sakit sad sa dughan ug ma palpak lang dayun after pila ka months.... isip2x usa ta ani, so for now murag concluded na jud nga nindot nig iq nga lens, ang coating lang ani iyang draw back.

I would have to disagree, tamron & toki are too sluggish in low-light conditions but wouldn't matter if you're not a shooter for hire / shoot often in these conditions, IQ-wise they're as good as the leading brands, subjective raman gud ng sharpness sa mata sa viewer unless in-ana ka ka-meticulous

nikon 28-70 nah skip it if you're going the nikkor path go with the 24-70 instead gamay ra price difference pro ang weight difference ky dako kaayo, IQ-wise so so
