Default its time to wake up!! support football rather than basketball!!

i know a lot of you guys will react to this... bec a lot of us pinoys love basketball..

but its time to wake up!! we dont have hope in basketball anymore.. simple as that. our football team is gaining more ground than our basketball team. the AZKALS have caused upsets in the Suzuki Cup. maka ingun pud ta nga swerte rata or unsa but a win is a win and you cant change that. ato basketball team kutob ra ASEAN. even our PBA teams (professionals pana ha!) are beaten by ABL (ASEAN) league teams. daghan kaayo nangandoy maka adto pata ug olympics nga di man gani ta kapildi ug japan, china and south korea.. what more kung ang kontra nato ang US, spain ug argentina..

lets stop dreaming for basketball, why dont we support the sport that the world loves.. where we also have the potential to be a powerhouse!

the miracle in hanoi last sunday was really incredible. it woke a lot of hearts and minds across the ASEAN region.. our football team is making baby steps to become a contender. i just hope more people will love football and that the government would also pitch in. if the government is fighting for education to our children, one best example would be to build football academies.. you might read it wrong that a football academy is just a school to teach football and nothing else.. nope! you are wrong. just like in england, a football academy is a school where children get formal education but... they get to learn more from football thru training after school hours. its also a good choice for children to stay away from drugs. this is grassroots program. start from the roots until its nurtured. thats why other countries are footballing nations because of this. children tend to get quality education as well as receive training from experienced coaches. and when they get old, with their skills honed, they play in professional leagues and earn. either way, they dont have to be worried since they have good education after coming out of the football academy.

i just hope the government will support football..in basketball, HEIGHT IS MIGHT and we just dont have that.. in football, no matter what your size is, we can excel. just take notice of Diego Maradona or Pele or Michael Owen.. they dont have the height but they do have the skills..i just hope more and more pinoys would also love this game. football is not boring.. if you just watched the game last sunday by our azkals against vietnam, every minute was indeed a thriller!

if you notice, basketball gets more support than football... its even much supported than other sports in general. we keep on supporting where we cant even reap honors.. naay honors pero kutob rasad ASEAN. and in a short span of time, pildihun rapd ta ani nila. i see no hope for our basketball team.. height is required in basketball but we just dont have it. even our so called pros here are easily outclassed by amateurs from other countries.

basketball always gets the lion's share in terms of budget. that's why our football team in monickered as the AZKALS because of this...

An askal is a Filipino term for any dog with no pedigree, no breed, no class. The askal is usually astray, unsupported and survives by feeding on whatever provision it can find. The Filipino national football team can relate to this mongrel, they have almost no support from a government thats suppose to support them, they are underdogs not just only to the world but even in their own region, South East Asia. But despite these odds, just like an askal the National Team is a survivor. No matter how many 5-0s or 7-0s it suffers, it keeps on fighting. Despite no funding, it continues to strive to become better. And in a country where basketball is the main sport, even if they don't have a whole lot of support from their own kababayans they still manage to pull out results and try their very best to inspire a nation marred by corruption, violence and civil war.

So yes, they are underdogs, but they never surrender our fight!

yes. you have a point we dont have a chance in basketball. but neither also in football. jus for one reason. WE DONT HAVE A PROFESSIONAL LEAGUE... we can only compete among those teams playing in the AFF SUZUKI CUP. but not with the powerhouse JAPAN, SOUTH KOREA, IRAN, IRAQ, NORTH KOREA, SAUDI and other middle east countries.pero go azkals parin. bsag asa ra kutob. its more of passion. soccer is the best sport.

@ juan penduko - basta naa lang lage supporta dali rana cya. supporta ramay kinahanglan. kung naay supporta, makabuhat jud ug liga. kabuhat man gani ang barangay ug liga sa basketbol. kay nganu man kuno na? tungod sa supporta sa opisina sa barangay o ciudad. tanawa lang unsay agi sa thailand football team pag asian games. kontra nila mga ligon nga asian teams pud. they do had good results. kung pildi man gani sila, dili pud ana ka lubong. that means they have improved significantly. because the support they get from the government, the people, and sponsors is incredible.

our government isnt that poor at all. as what i said, im sure the basketball program gets a bigger share from the budget. even gani sa budget nila, kuwang pa. nag pa sponsor pa gani ug SMART. and its not only SMART that's sponsoring.. daghan pana.

why cant these people support our AZKALS? why cant these big companies sponsor and create leagues of our own? supporta lang kailangan.
