stop blaming Pacquiao for catchweights. bukha ang inyong mga mata.. maybe the opinion below will shed some light, i hope

PBF fought a lightweight (Juan Manuel Marquez) at a 144-pound catch weight and then weighed in at 146 pounds. Did you forget about that?

Why did Mayweather do that? Because he could. JMM did it because it meant the biggest payday of his career. It’s the same reason both Cotto and Margarito were more than willing to come in lighter than the division limits when they fought Pacquiao. Both made career-high paydays in those fights.

Martinez agreed to fight Williams at 157 pounds because he can’t make more money fighting anyone else right now. He’s angry about it but he and his promoter, adviser and trainer all agreed to it. They want to get paid.

If they were really vehemently against it the way they act (and I’m not just talking about Martinez) they would have not agreed to the catchweight. Period.

Hopefully, one day a fighter who holds a title will say “the hell with the money” and tell a big star who demands to fight at a catchweight to go screw himself. I want to see if fight fans rally behind this guy and applaud him for his conviction.

My guess is that a lot of fans will criticize him and say he’s scared to fight so-in-so and write stuff like “He’s hiding behind his belt” or “What a dumb-ass, where else is he going to make that kind of money?” on message boards.

I hope I’m wrong but I think fans have short memories. In time, many forget what fighters weighed for certain fights. They don’t hold it against the stars for creating contractual stipulations about weight. You forgot about Floyd d__king around Marquez. Most have forgotten that Hopkins agreed to come in at 156 pounds when he defended his middleweight title against De La Hoya. Everyone agrees that Sugar Ray Leonard is great but not many talk about how he had Donny LaLonde and Thomas Hearns (in the second fight) come in light for title bouts.

lol kinsa man nag ingon nimo naguol mi if his fight wont sell much?
we're just stating the fact that at this point of his career,
pacman has the luxury of picking whats best for him - financial wise.
thats the reason i said - "it wont sell", coz if its not saleable, arum wont bite.

nobody's blamingw who on the catchweight fights but it's a comprise to fight a certain weight that is not the proper weight limit...

manny has fought 2 catchweight bouts in his last 3 fights... bear that in mind why fans don't want to watch another catchweight bout...

Im done arguing about catchweights.... lol

    and going back to topic,

I think Pac should give JMM another match, although i don't like the way Marquez is begging for it.
Oh i've heared it all before... Pac will slaughter JMM, he's improved a lot since their last fight, Marquez is old and has slowed down; but that's exactly what everyone was saying before their second fight. Point is that styles make fights, Marquez has Pac's number and will still give him trouble.
JMM looked swift and sharp against Katsidis, showed good power and had some beautiful combos.
Oh and urgh... teh fight should be at 140.

Oh and PLEASE NO MOSLEY, the guy lost in a lopsided fight against PBF and struggled with Mora.

Funny thing is taht Pac has no problems asking bigger guys to go down in weight for a fight with him, but he will only fight Marquez(a career lighweight) at 147. lol

ug ikaw si Marquez pre, di gyud ka kakuha sa fight based on the premise nga the fight should be at 140.
Pacquiao EARNED his right to demand ANYTHING he wants in a fight. If you're on the B-Side of the equation, take it or leave it. And since MONEY is a big factor, sugot ra pod ning mga kontra. Nya, sala ni Pacquiao mo take advantage sa situation? Bisan kinsa naman tingali.
Forget Marquez. If ever they will fight, 147 ra gyud na. The Pacquiao camp will NEVER give any advantage to Marquez because he's dangerous, and disrespectful. They will make sure nga if ever they will fight again, Marquez won't stand a chance.
Personally, as a fight fan, I want Manny to fight Marquez at 140, and yes I think Marquez will still be very competitive. But if I were to put myself in Pacquiao's shoes, why should I fight Marquez again, nya 140 pa jud? Mag lisod² lang ko. Gawas nga gamay ra nig kuarta awaya, maru pa gyud ning akong kontra.
I'm not one of those guys who counts Mosley out in any fight. Nobody looks good against Sergio Mora. He's all wrong for Mosley, and most fighters. I think Pacquiao-Mosley is a good clash of styles, and makes for an entertaining fight. Dako pa nig kuarta. And yes, it may not be that difficult for Pac to beat Mosley at this point of their careers but Shane remains a dangerous opponent because of his power, he is well schooled and he has Nazim Richardson.
