MANILA, Philippines – The opposition to the government's population control program has snowballed today after an official of an organization of Imams (Muslim priests) in the country expressed objection to the scheme.
Imam Council of the Philippines head Ibram Moxir also lambasted action star Robin Padilla, who has appeared in TV and radio advertisements promoting the use of condoms.
Hindi po ganyan ang Islam," Moxir said in an interview with Church-run Radio Veritas.
Padilla has converted to Islam in 1996 while in jail for illegal possession of firearms case.
Moxir said the national government’s birth control policy runs counter with the teachings of Allah and Islamic beliefs in general.
He said the government is underestimating God's wisdom and His plans for his people.
