Kung ako lang, I won't invest the whole amount in mutual funds. In order to diversify (presuming that you don't have healthcare and life insurance just yet), I will do it this way (example lang ni ha):
P5t in PhilEquity (mutual fund)
P5t in FAMI (mutual fund)
The P12t, diversify it in health care and life insurance. In that way, your health is covered, your family is protected financially, and you get to have 2 investments. Advantage of this one is that everything is well diversified and you're well covered.
Another option (which is much lucrative) is to invest it in life insurance and the rest to mutual funds. If you take this option, you will be covered for P1M and the remaining amount will go to mutual funds. This is called the buy term and invest the difference concept. You buy a term insurance and the rest goes to mutual funds. You get your family protected financially and you get a good amount going to mutual funds. Advantage of this one is that you get a life insurance for 20 years (which you will only be paying for 5 years) and you'll have a greater amount going to mutual funds compared to the first one.
However, if you want the whole P22t in mutual funds, 2 would be good enough. PhilEquity and FAMI are doing quite well right now and in fact, they are the top 2 performing MFs this year. PhilEquity is at 49.31% right now and FAMI is at 63.9%. Meaning, ang growth sa imong kwarta in FAMI is 63.9% and at PhilEquity, 49.31% for the year (assuming January 1, 2010 ka niinvest). The advantage of this is is that you get to have a good amount in investment. Hmm. Imagine getting at least 50% in 2011 from those two investments, you'll have an P11t growth in a year. Banks never give that amount in that span of time.
There are actually a lot of ways to diversify that amount. Different people have different ways in diversifying it. Maybe it's much better if you drop by IMG's office, you could get a better view on what to do with that amount and create your own financial plan.
I am connected with IMG by the way, I could assist you.
