@hacker.. are you selling this stuff? at 14k?
yep we are currently importing this items for the purpose of promoting the NISP. Currently we are planning to make a bigger NISP system without the hype. I agree with of you na mahal ang outdoor AP in the market today. I am getting this at factory price thats why i can sell it cheaper. If you want to avail of these items or you want to develope it on your own, i can help you. But the price difference is very small with the unit im trying to promote to enthusiast like you. you can txt me @ 09173245882.
a friend of mine had started his own NISP system in his neighborhood at paradise village. there are at least 5 neighbors who are his clients and they plan to increase the speed up to 512kbps. right now his internet connection is free because the neighbors are the ones paying.
hacker, i am very interested, i had already planned to do this before pero na hold kay wala koy kapalitan ug mga equipment.
was wondering what equipment the recievers end needs? does their regular WLAN cards work or do they need modified Access points above their rooftops as well?
very interested in buying from you too.
usually the common off the shelf equipment would do, like linksys, d-link, netgear. but i would advise the end user especially on the outer part of the ring(maximum area of coverage) to use a pci card instead of a usb dongle or pcmcia card. because you can attache an external antenna to these unit. there will be no problem to make the connector or pigtail because i have the adapters for these except for mmcx type which is very expensive.
Once you put up your NISP AP. First thing to do is to check the footprint or maximum range of the broadcast by using a laptop. Some of this units have built in wireless. the reason why you use these, is to check footprint with the minimum type of equipment. lets say if you can connect to the ap at 100mts directly, this means that a wireless router could actually get signal at 250mts (because routers and other indoor devices are rated at 100mw with a 3.5 db gain antenna. while the laptop is only 20-50mw with a unitygain of 0-1 db.
kung far fringe na ang imo client, either they buy an outdoor ap which is best, or they can set the router outside the wall on the second floor and extend lang the utp cable para walay gasto. But if you have a client who is willing to buy the same equipment as your AP then you can set the client ap into REPEAT MODE thus extending your coverage. NOTE: if you paln to use linksys, only linksys to linksys can be used to repeat.
If you have 2 other clients who wish to have the same ap as yours then you can set it up as WDS, wide distribution system. this means any client located in or near the triangle can have seamless roaming if using a laptop (but first activate your roaming features on your laptop)
