 Re: DHCP vs fixed IP
 Re: DHCP vs fixed IP
				iCAFE na bro? kung naa kay games nga p2p ex: warcraft battle.net, i suggest u use static IP for wach PC. kung wala, ok ra man mag DHCP.
 Re: DHCP vs fixed IP
 Re: DHCP vs fixed IP
				DCHP is better. you don't have to take note of the ip addresses that are already taken from the pool of ip address reserved in your dhcp server. since if two computers use the same ip address it would result in a conflict.

 Re: DHCP vs fixed IP
 Re: DHCP vs fixed IP
				warcraft battle.net? it does not need static IP, DHCP is easier to handle, especially with medium size networks like yours.
 Re: DHCP vs fixed IP
 Re: DHCP vs fixed IP
				@chocomai
maka join man sa battle.net kung DHCP pero di ka create ug game coz u need to forward ports(6112-6119) to a specific IP. naka try ko use ug DHCP diri before pero once ma palong ang router, ma usab ang mga IPs sa client PCs nako maong mausab sad ang PCs nga maka create.
@topic
i guess DHCP will be ok for your setup aron di na ka mahasol ug set sa IP PC by PC. auto config ra.

 Re: DHCP vs fixed IP
 Re: DHCP vs fixed IP
				so you need port forwarding and static ip to create games for battle.net and thats quite a lot of work, havent tried creating battle.net games, puro ra join. hehehe, thanks for info MisterSuave, pero it does mean nga for every computer that wants to create a battle.net game, you edit your router to port-forward 'again' to the new computer?
@topic,
DHCP is better 'for now' unless you have specific needs to do static ip, pero as a start, its easier to use DHCP, but for more 'advanced' networking tasks, you might mix static and DCHP in the near future.
 Re: DHCP vs fixed IP
 Re: DHCP vs fixed IP
				yes kailangan jud kau di man pwede imung router IP (ex. 192.168.1.1) maoy imung i port forward kay di man gihapon kasulod. libug lagi kaayo kay kung imung customers gusto tanan mo create, kailangan gyud nimo i configure tanan.
 Re: DHCP vs fixed IP
 Re: DHCP vs fixed IP
				i would suggest STATIC IP's... mas sayon mag configure incase naa kay ports i forward to specific ips sa imo lan.. also some routers naay problema if using DHCP, like sudden lost of internet connection...
 Re: DHCP vs fixed IP
 Re: DHCP vs fixed IP
				STATIC :mrgreen:
-port forwarding purposes (like werty said)
-firewalling purposes
-some network services
-QOS
-administration purposes (remote)
-routing purposes
-bridging purposes
-etc...
DYNAMIC?
still can do anything, but administrators must remember names. and shud create DNS. which is very fuzzy. and Naming System takes much time and resources.
