Lightbulb suggestion for the jamming session

it's better to use a backing tracks that have a simple chord progression

    ex:

Cm-Fm-Cm-G#7-G7+9 or a blues progression (but not the traditional one)

or just 1 chord vamp..you can already tell his phrasing if whether his good or not.

    Default Barry's got a point

Tried your chord progression suggestion. XD What bpm is it in? That's going to factor in on the feel of the chord progression. Not to mention the time signature. A recording would be nice, if not, one of those random backing tracks from a random website or OST (I suggest anything from the Dynasty Warriors OST, it's very metal or Lay down blues).

Most cliche rock songs have easier chord progressions though and they're a lot easier to understand. Not to mention the lack of preparation and time most of the contestants have to prepare for a chord progression in Fm (since Em, Am or G are the easiest). Though I'm going to try your chord progression at home xD the way I play it, it sounds very alternative (not my forte) so I might get something from it.

Phrasing is important. What would really tell if they're good is if they can shift the whole feel of the song from someone else's go at a back track.

about the chord prog, its a Cm blues, actually its an incomplete cycle, its a 12 bar blues prog in Cm. you may use Cm pentatonic over it..but the approach is more important. but that's just my suggestion

this prog is similar to THrill is gone by BB king

Oh yeah xD I forgot the same notes were in Cm...LOL! Pero bitaw, I would play it in F minor with a hint of C Phrygian to put a metal neo-classic feel xD blame my influences.

Nice one barry. Next guitar god competition hopefully itake into consideration atung mga suggestion xD

There will be NO GLASGOW KISS jam kay dili tanan naka sepra anang kantaha. The 4 who will make it to round 2 are to jam to a backing track. Magtinubagay ni sila ug lead until the song finishes. This is for us to see how well you do improv and bring out the "YOU" sound.

I will keep you posted should there be any changes to the plan.
if improv ok ra wala vid clips pero audio clips ma share unta dri para maka dungog pud mi

Sakto ka master bar. Phrasing is VERY important in a guitarist.

As for this progression, you're right about playing this in 80bpm, ala the Thrill Is Gone or go jazz shuffle at 138 bpm. Naa ko backing track ani bar. kumpleto man siya.
