It is part of their plan. Look at AppleTV (the new one) 720p Only? In a world where people have huge ass TV's 720p looks damn cute. And the people willing to shell out the money for Apple stuff can afford those huge tv's.

Like a lot of people say, Apple works like this
HOLD BACK FEATURES, ADD THEM LATER AND CHARGE MORE!

If there's something Apple has done right, its the lack of legacy support.
PC Still has BIOS, which is really keeping it down. See how many motherboards still have IDE, PCI Slots etc. Apple tends to look forward and ignore their past offerings. Which is good in terms of the advancement of their products.

Also, loving the IPS Screen on their laptops. Superb Viewing Angle and Color. Another thing I love about their laptops and displays (I have a Dell 30" Display with IPS Panel and it is similar)

Battery life is actually because of how well OSX manages hardware, Having a Hackintosh HP Mini, the battery life is 6 hours instead of 4 hours! Thats a 50% improvement!

@mickopono: regarding the appleTV i would say this is primarily because no country broadcasts at 1080p yet. Even in America the broadcast is only 1080i. 720p devices can easily do 1080i as well but since 720p is better in terms of performance i can see why they chose to label it as 720p rather than 1080i. You can actually see this in TV tuners too.

I agree on the BIOS and IPS screens. There was actually an article on changing the clunky BIOS to something more up to date but i dont know when that's gonna come tbh.
I also love how light the macbook pro's are with their aluminum unibody design. really nice to lug around.
Having bought an LP2475w i just the colors. many people are jumping on the 3d bandwagon but i still think that technology is far from practical right now. I much prefer IPS panel than 3d screens tbh.
Bottom line why i like PC though is the ability to change/upgrade/ and manipulate hardware.

Apple TV Isn't really TV.. You rent shows/movies etc. and play them from your Hard Drive.

Said shows are only available @ 1280x720 Resolution.
Imagine 1280x720 being stretched out to 1920x1080 TV's that everyone has.

I think this is partially true also but i think they are also trying to integrate your normal everyday broadcast to the AppleTV system. They are maybe also trying to compete with the TiVo system sa US with this.

hi guys! I'm a new owner of a macbook. I'm still getting used to the new interface and keyboard strokes. I love Windows and it's too early to tell if I'll love mac or not.
