Thread: 64bit capable?

  1. #11

not really. our servers are running with only 2 gigs of ram and its doing fine. it actually depends on the programs installed and the number of users that will access the server.

    oi!

... ninduta gud

unsa imo model o brand sa mobo, as well, unsa imong processor? ug unsa sab imong specifications sa imong RAM ... pareha sab sa akong gusto nga 1GB DDR2 PC667/800 o lahi imo like x2 single 1G o diretso na usa kabuok 2G RAM??

then ang OS sa imong computer (which i understand gihimo nimong server)?

How does that pc compare to just running on a 32-bit OS?
It is my understanding that if u have 3gb and below, mas responsive ang 32-bit OS. Have u tried running both versions on that pc?

its not a pc bro. its a hp proilant server rack mounted type using xeon processors and with dual powersupply. we have 8 of those and its been running 24/7 since the opening of our company. its not the latest but it still enough for our needs though it still uses windows server 2003.

^^ That's just semantics. I'm more concerned with actual comparisons. Have u tried both 32-bit and 64-bit and are there differences?

medyo lahi ang servers bro kay designed to run for 24/7 man na sila unya buffered type ang rams gi gamit. try lang og install anang windows server 2008 with 1 gig ram. incase hinay, pun i lang og ram.

nope, we havent tried installing 32 bit versions

I don't think there is much of a difference running a 64-bit OS with only 2gig of ram. Though there is a performance difference vs a 4gb machine as apps will be more responsive and you'll be able to multitask better but not because your OS is 64-bit or 32-bit.

x64 doesn't require more RAM to run, it just makes it possible to use more.
Though it is said that an application that is 64-bit consumes more ram than the same app that is 32-bit,..don't know if it is true, it would be nice to test it out though
