High Intake of Sodium
High amount of sodium can result in dangerous consequences. The main problem with the high intake is high blood pressure. High blood pressure (hypertension) is the root cause of many fatal diseases. High sodium intake can cause you hypertension, stroke and many heart diseases. Kidney is responsible for the regulation of sodium in our body and excess amount of sodium can hamper its function which in turn would result in kidney failure. So, the best way to be healthy is, to maintain the sodium level in your body.
Recommended Sodium Intake Per Day
As recommended, sodium intake per day for a person should be 1500 mg. The amount should not exceed 2300 mg, as excess in sodium intake causes severe consequences. The average intake of sodium in US is 4000-5000 mg per day. These figures are double than the actual recommended sodium intake, and hence is very dangerous. Following is the recommended sodium intake per day:
For age group 1-3 years - 1000 mg
For age group 4-8 years - 1200 mg
For age group 9-50 years - 1500 mg
For age group 51-70 years - 1300 mg
For age group above 70 years - 1200 mg

The content of the Smear Campaign through SMS goes like this:
"Public Warning . . . a middle age man, Robert Lim (Ivy Cons't Supply) from Dipolog City, was confined at Chong Hua Hospital at Cebu City last week. Was later diagnosed to have colon cancer. The team of doctors found 30 bloated undissolved caps of FERN-C in the stomach of the patient. It is widely known in the medical circles that FERN-C gelatin caps combined with its sodium ascorbate results in myriad reaction which is cancer causing. All FERN-C users are taking this risk. Pls pass . . ."
Here's the response from FERN Inc. on the above issue:
"Good morning. To address the obvious smear campaign. Copycats/competitor have done this already in 2006, 2007 and now they are doing it again. FERN-C has been in the market for 6 years. Millions of people who swear by the product can't be wrong. Our supplier, global vitamin leader DSM of Switzerland will not award the Quali-C seal to FERN-C if they have not fully tested and stand by the product. Our capsule from World's #1 capsule manufacturer CAPSUGEL of France and Belgium melts upon contact with water and especially saliva. We have contacted the Chong Hua hospital administrator and there is no issue against FERN-C with any patient past or present. FERN President Tom Tan's two kids had Dengue last week and were given multiple FERN-C capsules every hour to boost their immune system. They're back in school already. We stand by our product. Thank you very much for your support. - FERN Inc."
Here's the response from Dra. Amelita Obusan of St. Luke's Hospital:
"Why will a surgeon open the stomach when the problem is in the colon? How can anyone see a label of a capsule (if ever there was one) in an open abdomen with all the acid and gastric juices in it? When you receive a text that you've won 500,000 pesos will you believe it? This is a plain and simple smear campaign. Be an intelligent consumer. Don't believe everything you read in a text."
common sense people... pag aku mka dawat kog mga ingon ani nga txt di na naku basahon.. delete diretso...
this is a more sensible statement.."Why will a surgeon open the stomach when the problem is in the colon? How can anyone see a label of a capsule (if ever there was one) in an open abdomen with all the acid and gastric juices in it? When you receive a text that you've won 500,000 pesos will you believe it? This is a plain and simple smear campaign. Be an intelligent consumer. Don't believe everything you read in a text."
