So its just a coincidence that the Chair of the MCC happens to be the US Secretary of State? Secretary of State is essentially the right hand person of the President being and the highest ranked member of the Cabinet. Its naive to think that the President does not have control when he infact acts through the Sec of State w/ regards to foreign affairs.

Gabriela Rep. Luzviminda Ilagan said there is an estimated 5,000 OFWs languishing in jails, 108 of them in death row, all in need of legal assistance.

Gatchalian proposed that instead of cutting the legal assistance fund, the government should follow what was stipulated in the law which he authored that allots P100-million revolving fund for the OFWs legal fund.

“I always support the Palace’s decision to cut cost on its expenditures but it should not come at the expense of our OFWs who have been one of our most reliable partners in nation building as well as in keeping our economy alive even during the most trying times, such as the world’s financial meltdown last year,” he said.

Independent Foreign Aid agency that happens to be chaired by the secretary of State and Co-Chaired by the Secretary of The Treasury and includes the Trade Secretary.

A little common sense... were talking about Millions of dollars here.. and you think nga the US Govt will just entrust it to an independent agency without any means of controlling or influencing the decision making process. Maybe I couldn't get over the fact that you couldnt even convince enough supporters sa City and Province despite all the noise you are making. It was so lopsided that Aquino won in ALL 53 cities and municipalities in Cebu.

I also couldn't fathom how you could stomach having Gov. Gwen Garcia campaign for you in the province despite majority here not approving of the Governor.

Like Ive been saying all along sa campaign pa.. elitist ra kaayo inyong campaign methodology and hilas kaayo mo ug dating unya ang uban pala-away kaayo. Results speak for itself and prove my statement correct.

The MCC, a US government entity, deferred its final decision on granting the Philippines over half a billion dollars to assist in the country’s development until after the elections in May—and after it receives the new president’s commitment to pursue the reforms and activities described in the Philippine proposals for “compact grants.”

In a press release dated March 24 (March 25 here in the Philippines), the MCC, which is chaired by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, decided to postpone the $584 million “compact” grant to be distributed over the course of five years.
