    Default Raid 0

    ganahan ta ko mo suway aning raid 0 but before that mangutana ta ko sa ka2ng nka suway na kng worth it ba mag raid 0. Mga unsa kahay failure rate aning raid 0? i know nga iya e strip ang data between the 2 hdd so therefore increasing the chance nga mo fail. Kng ang dli raid nga setup mo fail gani but not that often how much more kng raid. But is it worth sa ka hasol nga mag install kag balik sa imo OS og application sa increase in speed? i mean if failure rate nya is once a month or two maypag dli na lng mag raid kay hassle install balik. I've read it does not contribute much in gaming performance but for other applications where it is has its advantages, is the increase in speed really significant? Salamat daan ninyo.

    Failure formula:

    Probability at least one will fail = 1 - Probability that neither one will fail
    so for example if you are using 2 hdds for RAID 0 and the failure rate for one hdd = 5%, then:
    Pf = 1 - (1 - 0.05)^2 = 9.75% failure rate
    Basically the chance of failure is almost exactly doubled than one hdd.
    Note that failure rates are measured in a span of within 3 to 5 years.

    here's a good explanation on RAID 0 and RAID 1:

    P0w3rM0v3 was talking about the reliability aspect of RAID 0.

    i'll talk a little about performance; RAID 0 in my experience is only beneficial when you do or run applications that require sustenance. otherwise, you won't feel the difference at all. raid 0 is pretty useful when you do lots of file transfers, rendering and when you use the drive in a server where multiple connections and read/write queries are made. since the failure rate goes up, most people use raid 0 with the other raid options available such as raid 10 where there is data redundancy to even out the disadvantages of the gained performance.

    if you really want up-front performance, you'd be better off buying an SSD with a decent size (and price) versus 2 hard drives with only a little improvement assuming that storage is not a factor.

    I would think the most benefit on RAID 0 would be sequential read/writes but not so much on random read/writes.

    Can we take advantage on this with server running Labmanager?

    @ poldo and P0w3rM0v3: salamat sa inyo tubag. Ganahan pud ta ko mo suway aning raid 0 and feel its effects pro mao pud nangutana ko kng unsa cya ka reliable basin pud mag cge rag ka crush in a small span of time then maginstall na pud balik sa OS and applications, hasol na. Thanks sa advice sa ssd though pro murag mahal pa man ssd. I was just curious with raid setup.

    as googled, is it software testing?
