    To Gloria Diaz--- listen closely....
You are too sensitive. I am a cebuana and one thing that I can say about her comments, that she's half correct and half wrong. Yes, we can speak/talk english but the question is/are, are we using the proper diction or pronunciation, intonation? Writing is different from speaking or talking in a casual manner - 95% of us are good in spelling but what's good in speeling if you pronounce it wrong? To us, we understand it but what about those people that english is their native dialect? They get confused too... I, for one had a difficulty of communicating because my pronunciation is different from theirs... I f you don't beleive me, try communicating or talking to an American and you'll find out.

and what exactly is your point?

as a cebuana, are you accepting that you can hardly speak english because of the pronunciation?

I think her point is that people from different countries have different diction and intonation but that doesn't mean that they don't know how to speak and understand english. Like for example, some Japanese pronounce letter 'L' as 'R' plus their intonation is different so when we hear them speak we think that it's wrong. It may sound awkward but they simply are speaking english but in a different tone and manner.
