    Default Compatibility Question

    Puzzled over this.

Using Emaxx AMD780G-Pro+ and this board specifies that it can be paired up w/ processors na AM2+/AM2 sockets.
Karon ko naka notice that the processor I'm using is Athlon II X2 245 2.9GHz AM3.
Running for a year na akong setup w/ no hiccups. Processor rating sa Win7 is 6.3

Does this mean the motherboard can also accommodate AM3 processors or the AM3 processor is capable of operating at the AM2+/AM2 socket level (mura bag ning auto stepdown iya speed level)?

Planning to upgrade the processor man gud and found out that what's available sa market are socket AM3 na. I'm afraid it won't run on my Emaxx board unya. Either Athlon II X4 620 or Phenom II X2 545 ako paliton.
Mu work kaha either aning processor sa akong Emaxx AMD780G-Pro+?

check lng sa imo mobo manual or sa website nila if supported ba ang cpu na imo i-upgrade para sa imo mobo

you may want to check out Emaxxtech's website first for new BIOS updateS?

you may also want to email their tech support for clarity of your concern.. but i bet, since you are already running a true AM3 processor, then an AM3 upgrade wont be a problem...

JUST MAKE SURE of everything in the first place before purchasing items.

sa akong nahibal-an bro... ang mga am3 processors are backward compatible sa mga am2/am2+ nga motherboards... but am3 motherboards are not compatible with am2/am2+ processors...

sakto btaw ni iyaha... logically u can place AM3 cpu's on AM2/AM2+ motherboards(limitations would be dependent of mb support and vrm).. but motherboards built for AM3 will not be able able to support AM2/AM2+ processors.

i guess it has something to do with how the memory controller is designed. not sure, nid to update my stock knowledge on this...

checked out Emaxxtech website & it doesn't show details about the CPU support for my motherboard.

also the BIOS updates don't have details, just the version and date released.

better email their support team for proper info.

    thanks for the input guys.
