I recommended the 50mm as to practicality and versatility to the TS as to my experiences.

My apologies about commenting about your choice of Nikkor 35mm, shooting at a videoke, and on wedding ring exchange because I considered that the TS wont hang DSLR's on his neck while walking thru malls and in a videoke... and its not very practical to bring a 35mm and wide (12-24 f2.8 as you mentioned) on wedding ring rites as to rules set by different parishes/priests... I just generalize for practicality... my fault

Its great that your wedding was shot by Nelson. I wish my wedding was shot by great photographers.

Oh, my wedding was done only in a simple chapel on a hill, bordering Tagaytay and Batangas.

my wedding was captured from fisheye, wide to tele... so basically any focal range could be use on weddings

Okay lang bro - we are all trying to share our experience with our fellow istoryan's here who like us are still learning and getting the best bang for the buck.

For me practical lang din. If it were not for my son and his school activities I would still be using the Superzoom P&S. Just got bad trip last May at a dark auditorium program - even with a speedlight, most of the photo's went bust. So back to DSLR after a 25 year break from SLR.

That is also why I would pick the Brighter and Shorter lens if short on the budget or going for a casual shoot. Another plus of the short lens is they are much quicker and easier to focus. Anyway, for most of us that don't print billboards - with today's Hi-Res cams the lack of a zoom does not stop us from cropping the photo later. Its also lighter on the back to carry.

By the way, Nelson is a close friend of the better half.

Observed something interesting - the shorter focal lengths this at 36mm f/4.0

and many other at the similar lengths through 50 or 55mm f/2.8

are much more clearer than these at 200mm f/2.8

    .

being clearer on that is broad. you cannot pinpoint solely to a 200m focal length lens or by comparing these photos. factors like the photographer's ability to use his/her equipments, his/her own skill in photography, post processing, and brand of lens affect a lot.

you have your point and presentation about using a 35mm focal point on a ring exchange rite but as much as possible, it is better to be ready to defy on any prohibitions in the church, and to prevent the need to get near or produce any distraction on the solemn ceremony. narrow angle? unclear shot? its the photographer's problem already on how he/she shall deal with it, its his/her job anyway.
