Default Why Cebu-grown talents don't get recognized on the national level

I think it's pretty simple - if people here in Cebu continue to patronize those Manila-based talents with such a die hard attitude, why should they bother with a local and desperate wannabe?

My neighbors care so much about Angel Locsin and Marian Rivera, yet they pay little or no attention to local aspirants, even though those people share the same culture and language.

nya way screen time mga local nga taga visayas or mindanao....

di dyud ma sikat... if i were them mag create sila station nga visayas na puro variety show aron ma recognize dyud mga talents diri.

so far religious chanels raman ang naa diri sa ato... walay pa dyud budget mo kuha og aspiriing talent, naa noon sila mga talent puro na seniors... senyor citizen to be exact. hahahaha.

I think it is too easy to criticize the two fat networks, GMA and ABS-CBN, as being "cold" towards Cebu-grown entertainment aspirants.

The irony? ABS-CBN pays higher wages to Cebu talents and encourages them to finish their formal education. GMA does NOT.

Worse, a group of passionate local talents sued GMA in a local court (all because the network canceled a certain Cebuano variety show) but lost terribly.

But Cebuano variety shows do not really attract a good audience - their presentations are not that creative, people get turned off with the OA (overacting), and the talents are now worth watching.

I think that variety shows are a big waste of time and money, even though they are supposed to showcase homegrown talents.

I never forgot Kim Chiu, but is she all Cebu has? Do homegrown talents have what it takes to be chosen or honored on the national level? If Kim Chiu is the exception, I guess the others are the "failures" or "rejects".

Speaking of talent, I honestly don't think the quality of the locals are worthy enough.

A friend of mine boldly declared that this island is "rich of talents and artists" without ever justifying anything.

The same goes with another friend (and local talent managers connected to her) who blindly calls local community dancers "world-class" even though those talents proved NOTHING on the global level.

She even told me to watch this damned video of a performance held at Ayala Center Cebu many years ago. She thinks those dancers are "world-class"

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BOOEZA8CAwU

Even if the local talents really were talented and performed in front of a huge audience, they are easily forgotten a short time later. It's a fact.
