Why are people cheering this on? Tax evasion is not good, but I think a government that fails to provide its citizens with even the most basic necessities (like water) does not deserve even a single centavo of tax money!
I find something obscene and sickening with the idea of going after the businessmen and non-taxpayers first before going after the crooks at the BIR. The government should first set its own house in order before going after businessmen. Whether or not you agree with what some businessmen do at least the money they earned is legitimately earned through their efforts and hardwork, whereas the entire system of taxation in the first place is just a form of legitimized plunder ostensibly in the name of public good. But if no public good emanates from taxes, then why do we tolerate them and allow more taxes to be levied on people? Do we want even businessmen to become destitute just so that the politicians can swim in a swimmingpool of cash? That's the height of crab mentality right there.
To tell you the truth the only reason why some businesses even survive in this country is because they aren't paying the proper taxes, and that is because for a third world country taxes in the Philippines are unbelievably high. There are taxes for virtually everything, and what legitimate taxes the businessmen pay the BIR wants more over and above what is even legally required and because our court system is broken and filled with idiot judges no businessman would bother going to the Court of Tax Appeals to appeal a case and will instead pay under the table to put an end to the harassment. The people who are cheering this on are simply clueless. You are barking up the wrong tree. If businessmen go to jail how many unemployed people will end up starving with no jobs. Can the government provide jobs and pay on time? Don't make me laugh. I'd rather live in total anarchy than live under the stupid governments this country keeps getting (and that includes the current one!)

Pila kaha sale tax ug iyang income tax nabayaran ani niya.
All those owners do not have the garage to rival Villarica's. Not even Bobby Aboitiz considering Villarica has all those cars you mentioned in his garage with the exception of the cheaper American made models. Then duna pa siya 40M na SLR.
But then again there are tax evaders that make Villarica's case look like lunch money. In the annual list of top tax payers we rarely see any tycoon and Noynoy should start running after them. But he won't kay mas dramatic man gud ang effect sa anang hilig magpakita sa ilang kaadunahan.
The top earners won't start paying if Noynoy does not start from the top. Wa ra gihapon ni. Sa panahon ra ni Ramos gigukod ning mga tycoons and not before or after.
