Pun-an lang nako og gamay samtang we are in the topic of guitar clones...specifically Les Pauls..
Most China-made LP clones are made from laminated wood and are not solid-bodies. This means that mura ni siyang high-density plywood that has been pressure-glued together unya gipapilitan og wood veneer on the top, sides and back to make it look like a single piece of real wood. When earlier topics about the John Hu clones came up, my first question was whether the guitars are solid-bodies.
A solid body LP doesn't mean that it is made from 1 solid piece of wood. It may be 2-3 pieces of solid wood glued together, then cut and formed into the sexy LP shape using a router.
The main difference between laminated bodies and solid-bodies is that a laminated body has minute air bubbles and this lessens the vibration that in turn is picked up by the PUP's mao na ang rason nga usahay murang low ang treble sa guitar if you play it without any effects. The solid-body guitar will practically have no air pockets therefore must full ang treble because the PUP's will pick up more natural vibration.
The laminated bodies are also lighter than the solid-bodies. Solid-bodies are also best with a set neck while laminated bodies usually have bolt-on necks. Some solid-bodies are even chambered - meaning naay mga cavities (dili ngipon nga cavity ha) to make it lighter, but it is not recommended kay maka-lessen sa vibration because you have less wood na on the body. For those who like Les Pauls, the weight is the price one must pay.
Taking the above-mentioned stuff into consideration, you can have expensive PUP's put on laminated bodies and the sound will still feel watered-down, meaning menos ang treble and dili full ang bass. Put the same PUPs on a cheap solid-body and you will hear a big difference. There will be more treble as well as a deeper bass, depending on which PUP you will switch on, either neck or saddle or middle.
Pero a laminated body can still sound like a solid body even without effects by using the proper PUPs. Anha na mo sulod ang trial and error. You will have to look for a PUP that produces higher treble aron ma offset nimo ang less vibrations caused by the air bubbles in the laminated body. You can use double-coils for this. If you use a humbucker on a laminated body, you will never get the humbucker sound so don't expect it.
Og anha lang ko kutob. Dili lang ko mo apil anang playing skills kay menos ko ana.....
PEACE.......GO ARGENTINA!!!!!!!
