MBR problem

Need to know guys if there's any way to protect the MBR (Master Boot Record) of a hard drive.....
2 times naman gud na corrupt ang MBR sa ako HD then ako nalang gi reformat kay games ra man ang naka install niya, the good thing is i have a spererate HD for my OS. hassle lang reintstall balik

follow up question, Is this a HD problem or pwede sad sa mobo?

trouble shoot doing elimination method - 1. check the condition of your HDD using Hard Disk Sentinel/ if its seagate, use seatools but Hard Disk Sentinel Alone can do the job better since it tells you the over all condition of your HDD. 2. If its SATA, have you tried it on another SATA socket on your mobo?

start imo pc using windows install disc nya adto sa repair > recovery console

do the following sa imo command prompt

chkdsk x: /f
fixmbr x:
fixboot x:

"x" = the drive where u have installed windows

restart imo pc.

ayaw nlng i.cge reformat imo hdd ky hasol au cge balik sa uno..

@cjmagowan gi try na nako and no use, like i've mention seperate ang HD nako for the OS so dili applicable

@COMCAM used 2 out o 4 Sata ports already bossing, tried HD sentinel and my HD's life line is getting smaller tungod sige ka guba, time to buy a new one na gyud siguro

e try sa recovery console. ako sa una ky cge ka corrupt ako mbr ka2 nag dual boot ko xp ug linux. mao ako tang2x ang linux corrupt napud. maayo rman sa fixboot ub fixmbr.

aw.. unsa d.i naay prob sa MBR nimo bro? imo Main HD where windows is installed or kanang imong 2nd HD ?

i think ang imong HD pra sa imo games is ang original HD sa imo pc b4 sa? nya pag install nmo new windows ky dha nmo gi.install sa imo HD sa imo OS karn. so ang bootsec sa imo pc is naa sa imo GAMES na HDD.

@cjmagowan 2nd hardisk and yes dnha nako gi install ako OS before actually usa ra ako HD, but decided to add a seperate HD for OS alone in case of a breakdown like this
