hasta mga snatcher starring kaayo. paita sa pinoy.

I started catching Jeepneys and got super confident in traveling on them I have done it many times before however this is the big bad city I was moving in. Riding down Osmena Blvd one afternoon from Robinsons this large guy gets on and sits next to me he starts coughing this awful cough I imagined filled with the vilest germs. I turned away from him looking out the side so I had my back to him maybe in the hope my back would resist germs better than my nose. He kept coughing and I kept hanging out the jeepney hoping the pollution would destroy any free-floating germs eager to attack me.

When we get to our stop the driver tells us and as I stand up to move out I am blocked by some eager Filipino insisting I pass his fare to the driver while the large diseased man moves into my seat. Irritated but not wanting to cause offence I take the 7 coins and pass them onto the driver and then crunching over so I don’t injure my head I move out. While this exiting is going on there were a lot of movement and bumping going on which you do expect with changing seats.

As I alighted I checked my pockets. I always feel my cell phone in one pocket and wallet in the other as I move around as if they might miraculously disappear one day through a hole in my pocket. Oops no cell phone there was not the familiar bulge there, I turn and go back to the side of the jeepney stuck in traffic and ask for my cell phone believing it was lifted from my pocket. There it is under the diseased guys leg as he lifts it helping in the search for the missing cell phone. I get it back thanking everyone and walk on. It was just dumb ass luck that jeepney was stuck in the traffic.

It was impossible for my cell to fall out of the deep pocket, never ever happened before in two years of wearing those pants. I believe the diseased guy was slowly leveraging my cell from my pocket each time he made that awful cough. And when I stood up he moved into my spot covering it with his leg while the irritating man distracted me.

Welcome to the 3rd world country. We can't deny the fact that Philippines lack in education. I really hope our new president will do change. I think it's not like Cebu lang ang ingani, mas grabi sa Vietnam, Malaysia and Indonesia.

mga bata nga snatcher sa colon!

The other day chastened by my jeepney experience I find myself walking along Colon street going back to the hotel there were that day an unusual large crowd of people on the footpath some pressing in as I walk bumping into each other because of the mass of people. I feel a tug at my pocket where my wallet is and 10,000 pesos I recently withdrew, in my other pocket is 20,000 pesos also part of the withdrawal advance payment for my room. I glance down and see this kid in black complete with black beanie walking beside me I accuse him of trying to steal my wallet and he denies it and walks away. . He has two companions one of which I observe knocking him for being a chump in getting caught.

I follow him and tell him in incorrect Bisaya that I will see him when I meant to say I am watching him people are looking and asking what is the problem I tell one woman he tried to pick my pocket they all have amused faces. I feel triumphant in having thwarted a Dickensian artful dodger until I soberly realize I was dealing with children and if they were professional adults I would be returning to my hotel minus one wallet and 10,000 pesos.

naningkamot pud tawn ang mga salesladies. kaluoy intawn. sakto jud ang foreigner. ang perception niya sa pinay is looking for a foreign lover... not as a friend.

Is it worthwhile learning Bisaya? Hell yes if only for the attention you get when you speak in Bisaya at the sales counters in the stores from the young ladies who want to know if you are married, single etc. Once they find out I'm single they point out the single ones looking for boyfriends however when I tell them I'm not interested in getting married again they lose all interest. Sad.. no one is looking for just friends... You have to play the marriage card with these ladies.
