Does a AM2 CPU cooler still fit on a AM3 mobo?

Haven't tried AMD platform yet. Wanna use an old cpu cooler on a AM3 mobo (planning pa)

the cpu cooler has labels only on AM2 processors

I think the box that comes with the CPU cooler has to have the specification on what CPU socket it supports. If it doesn't say anything about your mobo's CPU socket then most likely it will not support it.

bos ang difference sa am2 ug am3 are a few pins ra sa processor. pero if youre refering sa mounting sa heatsink or ang mounting gyud, identical ra gyud ang duha. so no problem bisan unsa na cpu cooler ibutang sa am3 as long naa am2 or am2+ nkabutang sa support sa cooler. base ra na sa aku nabantayan.. im using an am2 cooler, am2 board(updated bios am3) , am3 phenom2 amd. fits well perfectly

IT has a very SIGNIFICANT importance if what proc you have.

AM2/AM3 (atm have the same socket mounting)
Intel 775 (c2d,c2q)
Intel i7 1366 (i7 920,930,940, 975)
etc...

by telling us either that you have a e6700 then we can say any CPU coolers that has a 775 mounting bracket
can be used by you.

100% sure it will fit. Mostly CPU Coolers updated their carton box for additional infos.
