OT: About that mango jam album, i saw a copy of that bein' sold in salongga, that was months ago though, don't know if its still around now....hehe

i think, taud2 napud nga naay mga band sa cebu b4 sa 40 The band.. pero basin ang pasabot sa TS kay ang panahun sa BUGS (Brown Under Ground Sounds) nga gi-cater sa DYRT sauna via DJ Ka Pedro. Lain mn ni sila ug sound effect gud.. dili lang kay sa pagkangan nga rock bands sila.. Kay kaning BUGS, mura mn ni ug naa sa ilawm sa langub paminawn ang sounds or pagkarecord sa tukar.. basin maoy pasabot sa TS nga ang 40 The Band ang nag-una..hehe Nigawas na dayun ang BTU, Mobee Dick, Fives, etc..

thanks for featuring the song "rain". It brought back a lot of familiar feelings. I know you guys do not know me but i was the one who wrote the lyrics of the song "rain". I wrote it in 1988 (if i remember it right) in our house in escario capitol. I already started the melody in its raw form. Roy was our drummer before he joined "40". I left my notebook full of lyrics to him and played to him the song. He brought it to the guys and they arranged the song and gave life to it. I was kinda pissed at first but later I was just happy that the song made it to the top and it touched a lot of people. I was there at local ground in Sacred Heart School when they sang it. My hair stood up when everyone sang. What can i say, i made my little contribution to Cebu's Local Music and nobody knew it. Haha! I would like to thank 40 for being a vehicle for my thoughts and feelings. Hats up to you guys. By the way, its a Christian Song for your info. I was talking to God in that song. :mrgreen:

You've mentioned that it is a Christian song, how about the song entitled "Ang Saad"? That was 40's entry song for the C.E.B.U. halad sa Cebu concert. Wala jud ko nakarecord anang kantaha, hasta pud tong kang Salome Oro na "Amahan". Post lang ko lyrics adto "Amahan, Amahan, sud-onga ang naghilak mong mga anak, sa imong kalooy, kami nagaampo nga ikaw motabang sa among nasud". Wala koy record ana, pero naa ra jud nakarecord sa ako hunahuna, perting nindotang kantaha. Anyways balik ta sa 40...


Si Ezra nakamention diri, nga wala mosugot si Khali sa singkomil regarding copyrights ni Johnny Kawa. Basin ing-ana pud tingali nahitabo sa "Rain"? i was under the impression that BTU started it all. - needless to say, these bands inspired the local talents.

on the side note, moving forward to the 90s - wonder what happend to BUGS and SCUM member bands.
