You (or your high school teacher) needs to review stellar evolution basics.

nice picture... i wonder if it's an actual picture from Hubble or just an artist's illustration of the event.
but it looks cool either way. makes me wonder what other events are going on around the universe that are unseen, which could even be more dramatic.

That is obviously without question, an artist's illustration. Why can I say this with a sense of certitude? Because most people are not aware of the fact that current human capability to capture images beyond the planet Saturn is so weak (for planetary/stellar examination purposes i.e. topography examination, etc), that we don't even know (until 2015) what the surface of Pluto looks like. So, tanang photos you will see in the near future, of planets around other stars, or stars themselves, nga "up close" with detailing such as the image that the TS has posted, will ALWAYS be artists' illustrations. Until we have imaging/telescope technology with about 1000x more fidelity than the Hubble, will we get actual snapshots of such clarity and vividness as the picture in the first post.

geez... i should've clicked on the link first... yeah it says "an artist's concept image".
although Hubble have had some spectacular images in the past though.
