love is not sacrifice for me...
it is such a dreadful and manipulative word. It took me many years to learn that sacrifice comes from only fear and not out of love. And as we all know, fearful people can be vicious. Sacrifice then becomes attack and does not resemble love...
Initially, it is nearly impossible to conceive of love without sacrifice, since the conneciton of the two is so pervasive in our culture. The notion of sacrifice is born of the idea that there is not enough --not enough love, kindness, thoughtfulness, opportunities, time, money, caring, fun pleasure, beauty, enjoyment...

The notion of sacrifice is not born out of the idea of not enough, it is born on the idea of "for the sake of someone." I don't know how would you reconcile your idea with the love given by your parents to you. The essence of sacrifice will always be present in love, as well as duty, responsibility, honor, friendship, etc... Only people aligning themselves with hedonistic ideals can summarize such.
