    Default video card won't display

    Hi all!

We installed a video card and it was working fine for more than 1 week.
It suddenly gave the error "A disk read error occurred Press Ctrl + Alt + Del to restart" so we unplug/replug the ide cable for hdd then it finally loaded windows using the internal vga because there was no display for the video card anymore. We removed the video card and tried to reformat drive c then plugged the card back but it was still the same. We also tried another video card and it won't display either. We already checked BIOS and it's already set to PCI-E. What could be the problem?

My mobo is ASUS P5S-MX SE specification, video card is GeForce (Palit) 8400GS (256MB) and OS is Windows 7 Ultimate.

limpyohi rana ang video card nimu sis, basically there is NOTHING wrong with your hard drive NGANU IMU MAN GI FORMAT? try to clean your video card using mouseball or eraser. Wipe the bronze side of it back to back. Of course then, you have to update your video card driver. By doing this, you have to download driver scanner (free download ha) then update your video driver.

"A disk read error occurred Press Ctrl + Alt + Del to restart" is a POST error message that is informing you that a storage device is failing... which is obviously the hard drive

I don't know why this problem is video card related in the first place... but i have encountered this problem so many times and replacing the hard drive would resolved the issue, or if swerte ang hard drive cable lang ang guba

but it seems unplugging replugging the video card, and using a different video card does not resolve the issue so it seems that it is a problem on the pci-e slot

wala gihapon ni na ayo.... dili ghapon mo display ang video card. wala naman to ang problema sa storage.

Gi update namu ang bios nya reformat to win XP wala ghapon ni display ang VC.
I don't think sa pci-e nga slot kay ni work man cya at first for more than a week. Wala jud problema
Dili sad guba ang VC kay Gi try namu ang video card to another computer mo work man cya , mo display.

A friend of mine suspected nga sa mobo daw. murag dili mo support ang mobo sa vga card na among napalit pero ni work man gud cya at first. hahay...ibaligya nalang ni namu ang video card oi hehehe...

proper isolation of a failed component

does not display on a pcie video card. video card worked previously on this pcie slot
tried a known good video card but does not work as well
tried the suspected bad video card on a different pc but it worked

isolated problem --->>>motherboard --->>> pcie slot
