Nice one riclum Judging from the distance of Venus to the moon, and the blue tint on the lower half, I'd say you took this shot between 6:50-7:05 PM.

BTW, sa katong mga nasuko/nanlagot nako, nga wala ko nag-warn or inform about this event, honestly I totally forgot about it, just got reminded of it on Facebook mga 20 minutes before the event, and I could not post anything in the internet kay nag-uli pa ko sa boarding house to get my tripod Sorry, next time I'll be more vigilant of events.

uu, it has a vga video as well plus using its 80x digital zoom. although my nikon d90 has hd video pero akong telephoto lens kay mobo ra hehehe (sayang, wala ko kahibalo nga moving diay to ang bright object above the moon, ako unta to e rapid succeeding shots, instead ga long exposure ko >.<)

okay lang rod oi, hehehe. although ako unta ma inform mga fellow photo enthusiasts nga naay super telephoto lens or the super zoom(bridge) cameras; finding a good spot; preparing the equipments. and yes, naa gyud next time =)

    thank you =)

Actually, three things are moving in the photos:

    a) Venus

    b) the Moon

    c) The EARTH! Yes, garotate man ang earth, mao nga ga-kaanam ug os-os ang moon and Venus ganina, and then the Moon is revolving around the earth (mao nga ga-"atras" sya paingon sa area where Venus is) and Venus is also revolving around the sun...so nag-abot ra dyud sila in that spot in the sky

Yes, you could have done sequence shots, which was how I set up my bridge cam Nalibog gani ko if i-sequence na nako ang actual pag-disappear sa Venus, or i-video, but decided on the video kay mas "live" ang dating hehehe.

Just think, thousands of years ago, when there was no such thing as science, a "holy man" who kept a record of such occultations (based on earlier monk's observations of the movements of the moon and planets), could have announced something like this:

"People of this town! Tonight, you should repent for your sins! If you don't, in a few minutes from now I will make that bright star disappear! as a sign of God's anger against you sinners!"

And maybe the people would just laugh at him, but then, he waves his hand towards the Moon and Venus, and suddenly, Venus disappears (as predicted by his notes)! And the people bow down and cry before him, because they are scared and want to repent for their sins...and gives money to the "holy man" as a form of indulgence!

Science opens our eyes to the reality behind events that occur in the sky, and around us...now we are no longer fooled.
