Default Reasons Why A Vote For GILBERT TEODORO, JR Is Important

    he is the only candidate
    - who practices POSITIVE CAMPAIGNING (no mudslinging)
    - who speaks of RECONCILIATION & UNITY
    - who does not offer UTOPIA (no promises of paradise but realistic solutions)
    - with a clear platform of government & region specific plans & strategies
    - who does not appeal to emotions just to gain votes
    - one of the few candidates with the best qualifications for the job.
    - with the most knowledge & awareness of regions specific problems.
    - the only candidate who possessed all 3 attributes a good president must have: INTEGRITY, COMPETENCE & CHARACTER.
    - the only candidate with the political will and machinery to make his platform of government a reality.

I know Gen. Lim and I attest that he is a true warrior of the flag and not some arm chair general. Any military man who has served under his command will have nothing but praises for him as a commander. Mao ang military karon divided between Noynoy and Gibo. Ang generals adto ni Gibo while ang junior officers tua ni Noynoy primarily because of Gen. Lim.

As for a person however lahi lahi na. General Lim can be brutal and uncompromising at times.

Kanang terrorista terrorista dili na siya ingon tungod jud sa religious difference pero ang tinood hinungdan ana is tribal in nature. Ang tribe sa mga Tausug sad to say hilig ug gubot and by tradition salbahis kaayo na sila mao na sila ang mucomprise sa Abu Sayyaf. General Lim is crude and unforgiving in dealing with the Tausugs bisan hasta sa mga bata. Tanan basta laki na Tausug na maka tindog na as young as 5 years old is killed in barangays where so called terrorists are from. Gen Lim refuses to compromise with the Akbars or any Tausug na warlord mao samot magka gubot.

Gibo is a peacemaker and he does not want this. Hence his being called playing safe. But for what it's worth Gen Lim will still have my vote.

    On Ondoy:
    - Contrary to what people think, Teodoro did his job given the meager resources we have. People only say that he was not visible during Ondoy’s onslaught because he prioritized saving lives rather than taking the opportunity for media mileage. To quote an article from the Philippine Star “what the critics forgot is that Gilbert was the coordinator of the massive relief effort, that other agencies had not acted fast enough. During this period, Gilbert worked very hard, spent many sleepless nights and those who saw him on TV noticed how haggard he looked” - that’s probably why you’re saying he looked overwhelmed because he looked haggard?
    - While Gilbert was working, what did others do? They took advantage of the situation, went to some barangays and distributed relief goods – all under media coverage, not to mention that their names were written all over the plastic bags with relief goods. While these so-called presidentiables, Noynoy included, may have helped hundreds of people through their relief efforts (whether done sincerely or not) – Gibo saved hundreds of thousands (even millions) of lives by working even without media coverage
    - Typhoon Ondoy and Pepeng were extraordinary catastrophes that the loss of lives and properties were imminent, especially given the very limited resources the Philippines have. How many rubber boats, speed boats, amphibians, and other necessary resources did Gibo have in his disposal? You can probably count them with your fingers, but despite the lack of resources plus politicians who did nothing but criticize, Gibo chose to save lives rather than take advantage of the situation to boost his candidacy. What would have Noynoy done in that situation? Go to the nearest accessible site where media is present and show people that he is doing something? I'd rather have a competent man in Gibo sitting as NDCC chair rather than have Noynoy manning the post when a catastrophe of that magnitude strikes. Fact is, even the UN recognized the efforts of Gibo and the government.

"The UN's objective assessment was that the government had done a good job given its limited resources and the scale of the disaster." (Take note of the word "objective")

From USA Today, October 6, 2009:
U.N. representative Jacqueline Badcock said the government responded well to the calamity, "The government has really tried its best," she said.

From Philippine Star, October 13, 2009:
United Nations Undersecretary General John Holmes said, “I admire the efforts of the Philippine government. We are trying to support the relief efforts of the government as much as we can."

From Philippine Star, October 2, 2009:
While others were busy nitpicking on the sidelines, it is noteworthy that Defense Secretary Gilberto “Gibo” Teodoro Jr. did not allow himself to be distracted from doing his job as chairman of the National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC). It is no easy job to be on the shoes, rather on the rubber boots of Gibo. The immediate task before him is to mitigate the devastation wrought by Ondoy in Metro Manila and the nearby provinces of Rizal, Bulacan, Laguna and Cavite.
But given the available rescue resources at his disposal at the NDCC, Gibo had to make the hard decision “to give priority” to areas at most risk ofbeing wiped out

From Manila Bulletin, February 5, 2010:
At the first council meeting of the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Inc. (FFCCCII), Alfonso Uy, FFCCCII
national president, said Teodoro’s extraordinary crisis leadership typifies the spirit of Filipino-Chinese volunteerism that is geared at mitigating the effect of disasterson peoples' lives without media fanfare and mileage.“That is extraordinary leadership, when you do something good without expecting public adulation in return,” he said.
