Default Tomas washes hands in Funeral Parlor controversy

Tomas has washed his hands in the Funeral Parlor controversy wherein the city has failed to pay various funeral parlors the millions it owned for the so-called burial assistance program.

He said that he does not know anything about it.

How can he say that he doesn't know anything about it? Even Gwen is accused because she said that she doesn't know anything about the Balili fiasco.

I don't think the two are comparable at all. Who lost money in the Balili scandal? The taxpayers. Who lost money in the funeral parlor scandal? The funeral parlors. In my opinion this has not crossed into territory that would interest istorya members because it does not involve taxpayers money.

I think common practice sa mga mayor ang burial assistance for the poor .. asa kuhaon ang kwarta? sa funds sa Mayor. Asa gikan ang funds? well, sa tax sad sa mga lumulupyo .. luoy lang ang funeral parlor nga wala kabayari sa office of the Mayor for the services rendered to the poor citizens of Cebu in need of assistance.. Kay lagi, di man nato issue, di lang sad ta magpakabana? for the sake of justice sad sa giutangan sa office of the Mayor, which in this case are the funeral parlors, non issue diay ang pagpangutana?

That's provided that what you say is indeed true. Are you one of these funeral parlors who have been wronged? It's not that I don't care, it's that I don't even know what the controversy is all about and how this impacts me personally. You can't expect people to pay attention to everything. If you ask me, if the mayor cheated me of payment, then I would sue him. But that is not what happened...

    It's the same problem.
    The same issue.

    Why?

You may say that it's not the taxpayers who lost money but the funeral parlors.
Maybe you are right in that statement, but the bottom line still goes back to the tax payers...

    Ang dakong pangutana:

Asa naman diay ang kwarta sa mga tawo nga supposed to be ibayad sa mga funeral parlors?
Di man na kwarta sa mayor or sa gobernador, it's our money.
It was our money nga wala nila gibayad sa mga punerarya.
So karon, asa man diay padulong to kwartaha nga wa man maabot sa hingtungdan?

Now tell me, if this thing is indeed true, was it not our money, the taxpayers money?
Who were the ones cheated here?

bro, am not one of those wronged owners of funeral parlors .. hehe .. though it is a good business since everybody has to die. The best thing for those owners to do is to go back to their receipts, if duly signed by any officer of the Mayor's office, acknowledging the service asked, then they have solid ground to demand for a payment. So it is immature for the Mayor to say that, he has no knowledge of such services for the funeral of poor persons. Such statement might boomeranged if proven otherwise.
