I've heard demos of this in Youtube. This unit is a bang for the buck. But what about the tubes? Do they need to be replaced that often? And if they are needed to be replaced, then were can we buy replacement tubes for this one? What kind of tubes are they (yeah I know they're vacuum tubes ok)?
The tubes in this unit does not need to be replaced that often since it's just for buffering the input and output signal. In this unit the tubes are biased on low-voltage levels, so the tubes are not overly stressed. Unlike the power tubes e.g. the EL34's and 6L6's which needs periodic replacement since they are usually biased on high voltage levels (around 400V). I have a tube amp, Peavey Classic 30, it has served me well for 6 years already and i haven't replaced its power and preamp tubes yet. Hence, I could say that the tubes in this unit, 12AX7's, may last up to 10 years or more. Tubes can be bought locally, check it here.
