yes its true, its a multi-role attack helicoter, similar to the huey but has more capacity and able to carry more firepower in the battle-field... preasure from uncle sam forbid us getting hardware from Russia and China... sayang naa raba tana sila nindo pa kaysa ani, pero it's better to have than nothing.... if you look at it mura siyag "Hip"

hahaha edit bitaw na oi, you should have seen my emoticons

tinuod na daghan mas nindot ug mas barato nga aircraft from other countries, pero our love affair with Uncle Sam is getting in the way.. our neighbors all have a mix of US, Russian (ex-soviet), or NATO hardware pero kita mantinil intawon ug mga US bisan mahal or impractical.. we should look for cheaper but viable alternatives

just like the very expensive F-birds, we could replace them with french rafales or swedish gripens, more affordable and cheaper to maintain but performs the same role.. or better yet, buy super tucanos instead of hoping for A-10 thunderbolt acquisitions because they're more adept at jungle COIN missions than the jet-powered A-10's

More like an upsized Mil Mi-2. Poland had lots of these in their inventory when they were still a Soviet satellite state.

Although Russian designed, the Mi-2 was produced exclusively in Poland by PZL Swidnik. That's how the Poles cut their teeth making helicopters. It continues in production today as the Mi-2Plus "Kania" with reliable western-made Rolls-Royce engines.

The PZL W-3 is bigger, faster and carries more than the Hueys now used by the PAF. Good value for money.

Although the W-3 traces its roots to the old Soviet Union and is manufactured by a former communist state, the W-3 purchase hasn't raise the hackles of our American "puppet masters" because Poland is now a valued NATO ally (and the Poles hate the Russians with a vengeance).

OT: Condolences to the Polish people on the loss of their president, Lech Kaczynski, in a plane crash in western Russia earlier today.

If it made sense, it would've been done a long time ago.

Well, we do make guns. We're good at that.

good point. but the fact that we make guns already proves that someone out there is really investing in defense industry here in the country, the only problem is that there are only few of them, and perhaps the competition is owned by the foreign companies, foreign donations and foreign support. however, if we do not put more effort on this, then i don't think the Philippines will have a very bright future in terms of defense, especially for the air force where development is also most required. i know it is difficult for this industry to flourish in our country due to the nature of our economy but i think this industry is required for further development of our country's air force. do you know any company that is wholly owned by a Filipino that's involved in the development of our countries national security? i would like to make a list of them for a term paper.

i don't think that's a good option considering our relationship with america.

i hate to say this but Russian avionics is really inferior compared to western NATO standards.. evidence for this would be that MiG user countries are now ditching these and orders for the Sukhoi's are not really that impressive to begin with

daghan nindot sa NATO arsenal nga pwede sa ato, like the gripen or the rafale.. affordable but up to NATO standards na ang technology ug armaments
