Default What's the best notebook with a SDD drive?

I'm looking for the ultimate notebook that can withstand my nomadic lifestyle. Must be tough enough to withstand most of my backpacking travels, light and small enough to be comfily packed, jam-packed with all the neccessary specs, reliable enough not to break down in the middle of nowhere. Mil-spec lappys and notebooks are a top option, but they're so bloody hard to acquire and quite hard to find (Panasonic Toughbooks). So i'll move to the next, more sensible alternative..

I'm thinking about getting me a notebook with a SSD drive. Since there's no moving parts, there's less internal wear and tear, i figure it'll be more hardy and rigid.

So, the question is (to all you techno-gurus out there)...

What's the best notebook with a SDD drive?
Is it available here in Cebu City, Phils?
If it is, where can i possibly get one?
What's the pro's and con's of a SSD notebook in comparison to the HDD notebook?
    Are they reliable?

The first choice i did find / have is the Sony Vaio X series and the Panasonic Toughbook seires. If there's more better than it, please do share your bits here.

Share your thoughts and info facts here. All the bloody better if someone can PM me these infos i need.

    Cheers to all!!!

If Money is no object and you want to do some gaming... go with the Vaio Z.

Actually, you could just buy any notebook and just swap in a SSD drive.

SSD's are a lot faster than typical notebook drives and they are more energy efficient. No moving parts also for SSD so your data is less prone to corruption or damage.

I'm not into gaming, i'm more into applications like Photoshop CS4 and MS office applications.
My budget is more or less Aus$1.2k (PhP50,000) marginally for a brandnew one.
How much is an SSD drive? Would it fit my notebook now (im using a Lenovo S10)?

For notebooks using Intel Atom, The maximum performance of SSD will be bottlenecked due to the relatively slow processor. My friend found this out the hard way when he paired his HP Mini 2140 with an Intel X-25 80GB SSD.

Kung mag SSD ka, it will cost you around $220 USD. (PHP 10,000) - Intel X25 G2 80GB

Better get a faster processor also if you plan to use your laptop for Photoshop... the Vaio X i believe just uses a 2.0Ghz atom and is overpriced for its specs.

SSD rocks. Low power consumption, fast, cool and expensive.
