Please be patient with me, and hope you read my.... CAUTIONARY TALE lol.

I worked for my family for most of my life. We had a computer shop near T.C., I managed it. We had a beauty parlor after that and I managed it. We shifted to passenger jeepneys and I managed that. We then went into Equipment Sales and I managed that as well. All for free!!! I did it all for family. Who else in the world could you trust unconditionally, right? They would do the same for me, right? This before college. My parents should relax and join clubs.

After college I had an accident. I managed to work for 1 yr until it became so bad my parents offered to help me if i come home to cebu. They said we had no money so I had to wait and can I please manage the business in the meantime? lol. They said they were planning to give it to me. After a year of continual sales increase, they started to build some apartments. I asked, what about me? Son, we need to look to the future. This is for family, my parents said. OK ( sure)! I had chronic pain then, but heck anything for family. They paid me zilch but i needed to finance the changes i wanted so I worked for Sykes. I learned outside my comfort zone for the business. I learned programming, webdesign, graphic art, a whole lotta things. Bittorrent is your friend lol. I developed a business plan for a internet cafe business. This was before the current boom. My brother would be my partner coz my family paid me zilch and I had no money there. My earnings in Sykes I flowed back to the family biz. I was planning for the future. A few months later my brother paid me for "installing the internet cafe" and I asked him ...why if I'm a partner? Soon after he didn't consider me a partner because he already paid me my "fee" and because I didn't give any capital. Anyway this is for family and didn't I have the business already?( Fine). A few years later my parents still didn't have the money even with the business booming and the aparments earning. I was working my ass off for that surgery money. I developed a database program for businesses like ours. I developed a security surveillance system. I even made the website and adverts for the apartments . We have to savings for the future said the parents. This is important. I had severe pain. Bone fragments in my spine. This is for family ( OK I can wait). I did have the business even if i remit everything. I was still working with sykes too, so the future is secure. I made software products, developed marketing plans and marketing materials. I then made plans for an RTW store. I still had zilch and guess who wants to be my partner? Same thing happens, I get left out. I did have the business so how about i help him. You help family he said. ( Perfect)! Seven yrs later, they consented to surgery! I quit sykes planning for a pain-free future!

They looked for the cheapest clinic they could find and it only cost them 1 month's earning of the business. I almost died in recuperation (no one was with me). My father bought an SUV a month after( apparently they had money.. just not for me). My parents gave the business to my brother. Now I'm the slacker. Look at what your brother accomplished! He has an internet cafe! He has an RTW store! You're 30 and you don't have any savings! You're sponging off us. I resigned.

Even with the way things happened. I have no regrets. I'm not ashamed for standing up for the concept of family. But I find it hilarious that the business is bankrupt, the internet cafe is in disrepair, the SUV a total wreck, and the RTW store faltering after just 6 months. This time when my parents say they have no money, it's true lol. I'm going to work for a callcenter again. I'm working for myself this time. The time I had with sykes was the most fulfilling i've ever had. I had fun. I learned alot. I worked my ass off but i got paid for it. So do you I imagine.

Live, Have Fun, but also develop yourself. Money is easy if you have skills.
Plans fall apart with people who don't respect and love you. Even if they're family.
Get paid for doing your job. It's not the money, it's the respect. If you don't get the money you earn disregard.. then contempt.

Life is never clearcut but I hope when the time comes for a life decision this will help you. Cheers.
wow! you are one tough cookie... damn... astiga nimo bro oi... pero try to give time to yourself bro. you only have one ticket in this world... it's ok to help but it's also ok to be selfish sometime if it means spending a little time for yourself... i can't argue with you if doing that means fun to you... just one piece of advice from one brother to another. hehehe

    >>Cebu IT salary rate
in general, IT salary in cebu is minimum rate + 2k to 4k for starting job of IT professionals.
excluding data encoder Or those that doesnt require high degree of IT knowledge.
i wouldnt recommend anyone taking minimum salary for IT professionals.
It's all about negotiations, show your negotiations skills and get a higher salary.
