Question about portrait lens

35mm is more commonly used for full body portraits. pwede sad na duol ka sa subject pero it wud be very uneasy for the subject. if wedding imo apilan then ud better not use a prime lens. unless you have another back up cam ur better off using the 70-200 f/2.8 or 80-200 f/2.8 (cheaper but no VR). pero if gusto jud a mu use ug prime lens then these are what i wud recommend:

tamron 90 f/2.8 - they call this lens the portrait macro. around 28K
nikon 60 f/2.8 - nindot ni cya for portrait sad. around 32k
nikon 105 f/2.8 - can be used for portraiture and macro (better than tamron but almost twice as expensive). around 45k

@dan: Are you the main photographer? Will you be shooting the 'sidelines/candids?' Broad man gud portraiture bai. I'd be very nervous if I were the main photographer and if this were my first wedding to shoot.

I admit I'm no good with formal studio/outdoor portraits but I'm comfortable with candids.

@dan hehe perting kulbaa dyud ana tngli sa?? hehe well if your in a budget, 50mm 1.8 would do the job, pero mas nindot kung naa ka telephoto lens kay para dli sa ka maka ali2 sa mga ni tanaw sa wedding.. pero kong dinolitay 50mm would do the job, once i talk with a wedding photographer ( papa cya sa akong patient sa chiong hua) iya combo dyud na lens for wedding is botk nikor 24-70 2.8 and 70-200 2.8 but usahay 50mm dyud iya gamiton kay mas handy man gud daw.. and nindot og output.. he even invited me to shoot with him if there will be a wedding na iya ei cover unfortunately na wala akong contact nya, so i think 50mm would the job since its your frst try to think on your composition. and tip ha murag mao ni akong na bantayn. sicne wedding is a fast pase, better plan your shoot kana i mean imu mga buhatn, better lista na cya mao na sunod nako buhtn sunod. kay you know ma rattle dyud lagi ka ana bro.. hehe.. wla ka kblo unsa imu shootan better plan ahead of time.. plan imu mga compositions ^^ cheers

Guys i'm planing to buy a prime lens. I'm confused about getting the 85mm 1.8 USM and 135mm L 2.0.

thankz for this one.. yup i'm the main photographer.. bcoz they are on a tight budget as well.. sakto ka nerbyoson sad jud ko ani.. ok rman nko kng dli mo main photog bt they insist.. gnhn sd jud ko.. hehe pero dugay2x pman sd mga 3rd quarter of the yer.. pero gnhn nko mg practice para dli nko mgkboang..

kung alam mong gamitin, you will be surprised sa quality ng output nito. Karamihan sa mga nagco-comment na hindi pwede ay yung masyadong dependent sa gear instead of their skill and knowledge of the basics.

bro, nndota sa combo adto niya oi.. mura mkaplit ko ana nga combo gpang kasal na tanan kaila nko..hehhe nndot sd na imo suggestion, mg suwat nlng ko sa list sa ako mga buhaton na shots and mas maau cgro mag pre nuptial shots sako pra scripted ang shots.. den ang uban sa wedding day na jud.. anyway.. thankz au bai..

YES! the 35mm is also good for portraiture as long as you know how and why. Don't mind what people say about the limitations of your lens. kung alam mong gamitin, you will be surprised sa quality ng output nito. Karamihan sa mga nagco-comment na hindi pwede ay yung masyadong dependent sa gear instead of their skill and knowledge of the basics.

Remember, your goal is to focus the attention of the viewer to the subject instead of the fore/background. Kung alam mo ang principle and master mo ang lens mo, you can do it.

I'm telling you this out of experience. I use 35mm on almost everything, including landscape and portraiture. You can ask the thread starter (Dansoi), slycry, and chipmunk888 para malaman mo kung bakit...

btaw dice nndot jud mo gamit c sir macoy sa iya 35 mm.. na maximize jud nya ang capabilities sa iya lens.. mao gni mao sd na usa sa ako gi pili-an..

pili pod ko between 35mm 1.8 and 50mm 1.8...hehehehe...tsk tsk tsk/..hehehehe
