I don't know bout the rest of ya people but my vote goes to the Radaza's. In terms of accomplishment alone I say that the guy did a lot to improve Lapu-Lapu City, our City.

Ahong Chan? Nada! The guy was not able to deliver his promise to the youth as the so called tingog sa kabatan-onan kuno. I don't know what happened to all the promises he made. I don't buy his excuse about not being given the district fund, simply because legislators does not need a single centavo to legislate laws.

As for Pig-Tails Pelaez, I will not vote for him even if my life depended on it. First of all I say that Lapu-Lapu City is for the Oponganon's alone, second why should I vote for a guy who refused to pay his taxes to the city. The guy makes money out of us Oponganons and he deemed it proper to give his taxes to MEPZ instead? Ang buhis alang unta sa mga negosyo kansang kinitaan gikan sa bulsa sa mga Oponganon adto diay ihatag sa lain ug dili sa kagamhanang Oponganon? Pagka Katsila ug batasan! Pweehhh!

Pila day bayronon anang Pelaez yearly sa iyang business tax ba?

    Default Is pelaez for real?

I ask this question in light of what they're saying about one businessman-turned-presidentiable who is reportedly running for profit's sake.

The same can be said of pelaez, a businessman who lives in maria luisa village but who holds vast business interests in opon. Is he really running to serve lapu-lapu city's residents or just to serve his own interests?

I also recall what tommy osmena said about the larrazabals who are now dipping their fingers into local politics after the former pressured their hospital to pay taxes. Are the larrazabals campaigning for progress' sake or are they only opening their mouths now because their business is threatened?

Where was pelaez when previous city mayors (from patalinjug to weigel) turned a blind eye to his tax obligations to lapu-lapu city? And now that radaza is asking him to pay his dues, he suddenly speaks out harshly against the city government.

I own a small store here in lapu-lapu city and I have never been remiss in paying my taxes, even if business has not been all that good. I therefore find it unfair if big businesses like marina mall be exempted from paying taxes simply because they're located near the MEPZ (even if they sell retail consumer goods which are not meant for export). Besides, most of the locators at the mall are not even owned by Oponganons (just try checking it out -- I did, and they are mostly from cebu city).

This is why I like what radaza did to pelaez -- run after his tax dues to the city. Just as tommy osmena is now running after the tax obligations of schools and hospitals in cebu city. And just as similar to the larrazabals in tommy's case, there is also pelaez in radaza's place.

As to allegations of corruption, radaza is not alone in this. almost all national, provincial, city and municipal chief executives are accused of graft in one way or the other. if we are really against corruption, then let's criticize everyone who's accused of doing it and not be selective in our cause. Let's speak out against gwen garcia, juan bolo, nerry ruiz, the martinezes, the ampatuans, the arroyos, pinedas and what-not.

And if we're really against political dynasties, let's not single out the radazas, either. There's the osmenas, duranos, garcias, ouanos, marcoses, aquinos, cojuangcos, etc.

In the meantime, let's not lose sight on how lapu-lapu city has grown and developed not just because of radaza's administration but also because of how Oponganons worked hard to make things happen instead of just whining and complaining like what others are fond of doing.

    Gi question man gyud na.
Why he's applying for PEZA enterprise unsa may bases.
Pelaez should pay taxes to the city. If a fire occurs at marina mall, it's the city's fire department that responds. If a crime happens there, it's the city police office that responds. In fact, it's the city's traffic enforcers that manage traffic there now. And his wastewater goes into the city's drainage system. So, why the heck is he giving taxes to the MEPZA which is not giving marina mall basic services?

Sorry, but I don't remember Eugene as an outstanding member of the city council. Which vital ordinance did he introduce? Has he made an expose over something in the city government? In the city council's history, is he known as the "father" of something? Did he help pay hospital bills for the poor, buy medicines for indigent patients, rebuild the homes of fire victims or offer burial assistance to paupers? Did he help fight crimes, put order in the city's public market or sponsored scholarships to poor but deserving students? Did he speak up against Dick Sison's assassins or helped push the city to become highly-urbanized? What has he done for street children, the differently-abled and battered women? Did he help widen the streets of gun-ob or basak? Did he improve the wharf in buot and santa rosa? What did he do for our fisherfolk, tricycle drivers and market vendors? What's his stand on businessmen who do not pay taxes to the city? Just asking...

HE also granted scholarships to deserving high school graduates in punta engano. he provided jobs to more than 2,000 people through the businesses that he organized in Lapu2x city. he also paid an average of Php40M in annual taxes to the government. in his capacity as a private person, dili pa daw ni official. i don't know him personally but i think it's about time that we should give another one a try, don't you think??
A philanthropist is someone who helps others for the sake of helping. Pelaez helped because, as your said, it's his corporate social responsibility. He is obliged to give back to the community that made him rich. That's not philanthropy; it's called good business practice.

I hope there's nothing more than that, in light of Pelaez's candidacy for mayor now. I hate to think that he might have helped others in the hope of one day using them for purposes of political propaganda.

Yep! Some people just talk the talk, others walk the walk. If fluency in the english language is his topmost qualification the guy ought to seek employment at convergys as a telemarketer instead of sending him into congress. What is he going to do there, talk us to death....in English? Porbida!

Kung dili ka taga Opon then that makes you totally irrelevant of the whole discussion, besides there is nothing more contemptible than someone nga dili diay taga Opon pero kun pasultihon mura gyud ug pwerting suhetoha sa mga panghitabo ug kinaiya sa mga taga Opon.

If kaming mga taga Opon will want your opinion about our leaders then we will ask for it, otherwise it is better for you to shut d effin up and sit the effin down and browse some porn with your internet time. Aight!
